A truly fast short telephoto prime designed for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras, the Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Lens from Mitakon Zhongyi pairs the bright maximum aperture with a portrait-length perspective for extensive focus control and enhanced low-light shooting. The optical design incorporates two extra-low dispersion elements with four high refractive index elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to achieve notable sharpness, even at wide apertures. Additionally, the lens features a manual focus design with a floating elements system, along with a de-clicked, silent aperture ring to benefit both still and video applications. Ideally suited for portraiture applications, the refined optical design, fast maximum aperture, and longer-than-normal perspective help to isolate subject matter and deliver a high degree of sharpness and clarity.

Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Reviews
Good lens but…
Been using this lens for a week now. This is a fine lens. Unfortunately, the focusing ring have it’s own character. The manufacturer should losen its resistance more.
Not the 65mm
I have found the 65mm Mitakon to have some character that does a nice job of mimicking film on my GFX100S. A lot of the film look comes from older lenses that simply weren't of the quality we have now and that lens makes it easy to fool most film lovers. This lens not only doesn't lend itself to that film look - it simply produces a bad image. Rather than character I see flaws. Rather than film like color I see poor color rendition. The out of focus areas don't render nicely either. It flares horribly as well. It doesn't appear to be made for the GFX at all as it vignettes horribly. It is also garbage in terms of image clarity off center. Oh - and the chromatic aberration is atrocious. Obviously on a larger sensor the notion of being able to shoot anywhere near 1.2 is silly. I haven't seen good results from 1.2 all the way through F8. Above that is sheer garbage. This is a manual only lens and since I own the 65mm I knew it would be REALLY heavy. So I won't complain about that. The contrast is okay. That is about the only thing nice I can say. It is of course possible that the quality control isn't there and I just got a really bad copy. But looking at some of the sample images in the reviews I don't think that is the case. Seems a good image may be the exception and not the rule. This lens is a regret. No other way to say it. Even for $499 it was a waste of money. I'd feel guilty selling it, but I doubt I'll use it again. If you have the luxury of trying before you buy I'd recommend it.
