Elinchrom has put together a lightweight kit using components of the popular Quadra system for photographers on the go. The Quadra ELB 400 Two Action Heads To Go Kit is comprised of 1x ELB 400 Pack with lithium-ion battery, charger and strap, 2x Action Flash Heads with Cables, sync cable, an EL Skyport SPEED Transmitter, and a hard ELB 400 2-head kit case.
ELB 400
The Elinchrom ELB 400 Quadra Battery-Powered Pack with Battery delivers an impressive 424Ws of power in a very small package that weighs only 2.79 lb an included lithium-ion battery. Besides power, it offers full power recycling as fast 1.6 seconds and flash durations as short as 1/5700 seconds. Speaking of speed, you can utilize the pack's built-in radio receiver with the optional EL Skyport Transmitter SPEED that offers 8 discrete channels to thwart radio interference and can handle 4 groups of flash units. It not only allows you to trigger your pack at distances up to 393' but gives you control of power, on/off and modeling light functions. The pack's USB input allows use of an optional Wi-Fi module for computer control and software updates for apps that provide remote control via your for iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
Action Flash Head
The Quadra Action Flash Head is a powerful, full-functioning miniaturized flash head that is perfectly mated to the 400Ws Ranger Quadra packs. At only 10 oz and measuring a mere 3.1 x 2.9", the head not only packs well and is eminently portable but is mountable in situations that would be impossible for a full-sized flash head.
What really distinguishes the head is its "A" designation for Action, or more to the point, freezing action. The specially designed Omega flash tube is capable of flash durations as short as 1/5,700 sec. - fast enough to catch and freeze movement at its peak. The Quadra Action Head does away with conventional halogen modeling lamps in favor of a low-draw PilotLight LED that produces the tungsten equivalent of 50W of tungsten light output. Elinchrom also offers the EL-RQ adapter for those who want to use standard full-sized accessories and reflectors. The head comes with a removable 8.2' head cable, while optional extension cables are available.
EL Skyport Transmitter SPEED
With the EL Skyport Transmitter SPEED, you can control basic functions of Elinchrom units such as the ELB 400, BXRI 250/500, and Ranger Quadra. The transmitter works at distances up to 196' (60 m) indoors; up to 393' (120 m) outdoors, with up to 1/250 sec. sync speed. Eight discrete channels, 4 controllable groups, and 40-bit security guaranty interference-free operation. The transmitter will trigger the ELB 400 battery-powered pack thanks to its built-in receiver as well as other remote Elinchrom flashes that are fitted with either a Skyport Universal Receiver or Transceiver RX.
