  • 1Description

  • 3More Light
  • 4Separately Purchased Support Bracket
  • 5Double Diffusion
  • 6Optional Deflectors

The Litemotiv 120cm Parabolic Softbox from Elinchrom is a logical extension of their softbox range. The 16-sided softbox is ideal for portraiture since its form factor renders pleasing circular catchlights in subject's eyes, while the Litemotiv's large surface area wraps the soft light around the subject.

Optimal results can be achieved using any combination of the unit's removable front and inner diffusers as well as optional deflectors that reduce hotspots. The Litemotiv requires separate purchase of a heavy duty bracket for use. The Elinchrom bracket enables precise and easy positioning for all Elinchrom heads. Profoto, Bowens, and Broncolor Pulso brackets are also available.

16 Rods
The 16 anodized rods are heat-resistant, enabling work with high-temperature light sources and creating ideal catchlights for portraiture, The rods are made of flexible aluminum to follow the parabolic shape of the Litemotiv. The color coding of the bracket and rods enable trouble-free assembly. These studio softboxes feature convenience features such as a removable rear cover that makes them simple to setup and disassemble
More Light
The fabric of the Litemotiv softboxes is unique. It offers 30% more light output than the standard Rotalux fabric used for the Portalite while being just as lightweight. It also offers the same distinctive Elinchrom look as the other softboxes but with the addition of heat-resistance which allows the use of hot lights up to 650W
Separately Purchased Support Bracket
Designed to support the Litemotiv 120cm and the larger 190cm, this separately purchased bracket takes all of the stress off the attached flash head in use while providing easy positioning of it. Elinchrom, Bowens S-Mount, Broncolor Pulso and Profoto brackets are available
Double Diffusion
The double diffusion panels have been specially designed to produce very soft light. The inner diffuser also incorporates a central circular panel to avoid hotspots, thus offering the most homogenous light possible. It is possible to remove both diffusers to obtain a very crisp and contrasty light, similar to a beauty dish but much larger
Optional Deflectors
Elinchrom compacts and flash heads offer a unique centered umbrella fitting for umbrellas and deflectors. This gives photographers the freedom to easily modify the hardness / softness of their lights. Deflectors can eliminate, soften or tone sharp shadow edges and hotspots

This is my first of two Elinchrom Litemotivs I plan on purchasing. The truth is that this modifier is the ultimate softbox in the studio. It takes a little doing in getting it assembled on its companion mount but once together you want to immediately play with it!

Love it!

Love the wrap around lighting this modifier creates, the build quality is great, overall just a great modifier to have. If you are looking to use this with an Alienbees/Einstein strobe, you can buy the Westcott Zeppelin Balcar bracket and it works with this modifier.

What a gorgeous light modifier!

I live in Malaysia and I ordered this item from B&H after much research. It was very very hard to combine all pieces together at first and felt that this would need assistance to setup together. Mine is just 120cm, but it’s heavy enough and recommend to be used in studio, instead outdoor. This modifier makes my entry level Elinchrom D-Lite 4 lt at different level with super rich & soften light. Build quality as tank! Thanks to B&H!!! For awesome delivery service with the product!

It's sturdy and strong and throws amazing light. I don't like the thin Velcro strips that the inner diffuser attaches with. If you're in a hurry, you can not just rip the inner diffuser off at risk of ripping. It is also difficult to assemble the first few times - not confusing, but it requires a few strong hands. I did it with an assistant and we were fumbling for a little bit because the rods were firm. I get it though. This is a large softbox so things need to be able to support the weight. It throws a lot of light! I had a 45 degree tilt (about the max tilt you can get with a vertical stand) and there was a lot of light bouncing off a nearby wall onto the background. I wanted to tilt this down more to prevent this, but I did not have a strong stand to do this. I would hesitate to use this softbox again indoors, but I cannot wait to use it outside. Overall, great buy!

question

Does it break down like Elinchrom Octas for easy storage in a carry bag and quick (pop up) assembly on location?
Asked by: Tom
No quick pop up. You have to enter the rods into the special bracket (purchased separately). It takes about 10 minutes (a little more the first time) to put up and a little less to take down. It comes with a carry bag. It is advisable to buy/use it with a stand with casters. It it is light but BIG.
