Love it.

batteries are a pain

This light is bright and lightweight so I'm happy with it in general. The only hassle is that it requires 6 AA batteries or one of a limited number of Sony batteries. Unfortunately, the Sony batteries aren't the ones I use for my a7iii, as I expected, so now I have to buy separate batteries (and charger?!) and that really bugs me.

Bigger than I expected

This light is very nice and the packaging/carry bag it comes with is a nice addition. The light itself works very well and is a usable brightness for fill lighting. The Diffuser didn't quite fit right and took some finagling to get on and off. The ability to run off AA batteries or the standard Sony batteries is an additional nice feature. All things considered it is a quality light.

Should have bought 2

I kick myself for not buying 2 when they were on sale.

great lights, just wish they had a DC in jack to use with a mains adapter, had to mod mine to add a jack and they work perfectly now without needing batteries

Well, it's nice.

Bright, useful, cheap and versatile. The only problems are 1) The battery mount is a little iffy, it has trouble slotting my F-NP batteries, and 2) it's discontinued. Sooooooooooo

Bright, high quality LED lights

I purchased 2 of these and both worked fine right out of the box, since I had the correct Lithium Ion batteries required. Both dials, 1 for Brightness, the other for Color, work very well and the output changes as expected. I have not done any tried them for stills or video, but I expect that they will work just fine. I recommend their purchase.

Klugey

I was really excited about this item and it has a lot of great features including color temperature but it is a rather clumsy product. It is quite large and heavy, especially with 6 AA batteries, when mounted on the hot shoe of the camera. It is not bright enough as studio lighting and goes through the AA batteries like chewing gum. Batteries were virtually exhausted after one hour of use. However, the big problem is the way it attaches to the hot shoe—do you use the metal side or plastic side? I opted for the plastic side since I did not want to short the hot shoe contacts. However, it does not easily slide into the hot shoe and I simply did not want to jam it in. Not confident if I will ever use this so I am returning it.

Will this be good as continuous light for still photography, or is it really for video?
Asked by: Rivki
it will be great for still photography as continuous light, it is controllable for dimming the light and choosing the light color for short distance from the object. it is not strong burst as flash light but it is more “natural” ....

question

Does it come with a battery?
Asked by: Avrohom K.
It does NOT come with a battery. I suggest buying the Watson B-4205 battery. Charger is sold seperately. I use that battery with that LED light, and it is excellent.

question

Will this take a NP-FV70 battery? And will the 2500mAh be sufficient for a few hours of bright-light recording?
Asked by: T K.
How bright is bright? I use it as an extra light to fill in deep shadows, and to just separate the subject to the background. I like that it takes AA batteries because I can just leave it in my portable camera bag and always have it when I need it in a pinch. I actually found a super light that has a broader span that is also bi-color and uses only one Sony battery, it's the Genaray Crux 10 Round Bi-Color LED Light B&H # GECR10B MFR # CR-10B. B&H personal steers you away from it, but I found that it is 'What I need' and it's super easy to use and set up. Hope you find what you NEED!

question

when dimmed down to 0%(lowest level) does this make no light at all like total darkness?
Asked by: Daesuk James
I use Watson Black AA batteries in mine. When the dimming the light completely, you can hear and feel the dim control click OFF. There is NO light at all. I just checked both my lights in a completely darkened room. Possibly the light behaves differently with a lithium battery.
