  • 1Description

The NUC5I7RYH Mini PC NUC Kit from Intel is a compact system that fits in the palm of your hand and packs the performance of a Broadwell dual-core Intel Core i7-5557U processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics 6100. It features two SODIMM slots that can accept up to 16GB of DDR3L 1333/1600 MHz of RAM. For long-term storage, it has room to hold a 2.5" hard drive or SSD as well as an mSATA drive connected to the M.2 slot. Once a storage drive is added, you may install an optional operating system such as Windows and Linux. It also features a mini-HDMI and a mini DisplayPort to deliver high-definition content to your monitor or TV. With Bluetooth 4.0, you can wirelessly pair speakers or a mouse with this NUC. In addition to outputting video, the system features an infrared sensor that you can use an optional remote to control it right from your couch.

This NUC connects to the Internet for downloading online videos using its built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi or the Gigabit Ethernet jack. For connecting with your peripherals, it offers four USB 3.0 ports. Additionally, one of the USB ports can easily charge your tablet or smartphone quickly. To save desk space, the system may be mounted to a wall or the back of your VESA-compatible monitor using the included VESA mount bracket. Moreover, you may personalize this system with different styles and features by replacing the lid. When fully equipped, the Intel NUC mini PC is designed for everyday use and gives you the power to play, create, and entertain.

Processing and Graphics
This NUC is equipped with a 5th generation 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7-5557U processor featuring visibly smart graphics using Intel HD Graphics 6100 to provide enhanced performance and improved graphics for casual and online gaming, video playback, and web browsing. With Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, the maximum clock rate this processor can achieve is 3.4 GHz. Having two cores also allows the system to run multiple programs at the same time without slowing down the computer.
Infrared Capability
As the NUC was designed especially for home theaters, this system features a front panel infrared sensor, which allows wireless communication with infrared-compatible devices, such as remote controls, keyboards, and other devices.
Intel Visual BIOS
The BIOS with a configuration-friendly, easy-to-use interface lets you customize settings while reducing the risk of damaging your system. Whether you want to prioritize boot order, change the BIOS password, enable overclocking, or set fan speed, Intel Visual BIOS gives you total control.
Compatible with Linux
Linux can be installed, either as the primary OS or as a separate partition alongside Windows. Certain versions of Linux are specifically adapted to be used as a Home Theater PC (HTPC).
Audio Out and Microphone-In Port
The single 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone/microphone jack on the rear of the device lets you connect headphones, speakers, or headsets to the Intel NUC.
Quiet Cooling
The system features active cooling with minimal noise through the use of one fan.
Kensington Lock Support
Features a slot for a Kensington lock to be used in order to deter theft.

    Intel NUC5i7RYH reviews

NUC5I7RYH Mini PC NUC Kit is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from NUC5I7RYH with 16 GB ram, 256 GB M.2 SSD Linux mint 17.2 I wanted the spped of the I7 processor but after reading the reviews I was concerned that the fan noise would bother me. When I use this as an HTPC watching videos etc. I find that the fan noise is not audible unless I hold it right up to my ear. The only time it is audible accross the room is when I am running cpu stress tests. I am using linux mint 17.2 cinnamon which installed easily. The only problem is the bluetooth driver which gives an out of range error when I try to use my bluetooth headphone. Not a show stopper for me and assume it will be resolved when the core is updated with newer drivers. The hardware was easy to install and the documentation is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than i excepted !! FAST and powerful pc in a small box ! you can hide it behind TV , i installed OS X on it , this NUC now replaced my 2007 Mac mini

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice unit -- for system builders The NUC replaces a full tower system. The size is unbelievable and the cost is very reasonable. With low RAM prices I installed 16 gigs and a 250 gig SSD. I have tried a spinning drive but the sleek design begs for a SSD. Do buy unless you want to install same. The small fan almost never runs. Windows 10 boots in 15 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Machine, Amazing Size! I bought this to replace a 6-core AMD Phenom II 1090T. It's able to transcode video at lightspeed due to the Intel QSV capability, with hardly increasing the idle fan speed at all. I'm not a gamer, but my child plays Minecraft and it's dramatically more playable now since the FPS exceed that which my eye can even detect, versus maybe 15-20 FPS on the old system. My 3D printer software uses OpenGL and is able to load and display the models exceptionally faster than my old computer. The size of this computer is unbelievably small, mounts right to the back of my monitor with the included VESA mounting plate, and freed a large amount of deskspace from the old desktop case. The BIOS is very detailed and provides a lot of control over boot settings, fan duties, performance balancing against noise, etc. I used an old 2.5 SATA SSD in the NUC rather than buying a new M.2 SSD, but I also noticed that the M.2 SSD prices are exceptionally low, so that may be in my near future, and then I would have the ability to use two storage drives in the computer at once, which considering the size, is nothing short of a miracle. 4x USB3 is great. Sound over HDMI interface is working great. The 802.11ac Wi-Fi seems to perform very reliably and fast. I have not had a chance to use the DisplayPort or Ethernet yet. Once note is that the HDMI port is a mini-HDMI, so you will likely need to purchase a cable if you plan to use this port. This has caught some people offguard, but luckily I already had a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable for use with my DSLR, so I was good to go. Extremely pleased with the computer performance, size, capability/features, and quietness! The only downside at all was that the driver downloads from Intel could use some work. The Intel driver downloader failed on over half of the drivers, so I had to get them manually. The sound driver link on Intel's website resulted in a 404 page not found message, but the Intel driver downloader was able to fetch the sound driver at least. I installed Windows 7, which doesn't have built-in driver support for the Ethernet or the Wi-Fi, so I had to at a minimum grab the Wi-Fi driver and put onto a USB flash drive, which luckily was recognized in the computer with a base install and no drivers installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent desktop replacement! I was looking to replace my desktop of many years. I bought this with an M.2 PCI-e SSD, 16 GB of Corsair 1866 DDR3. Installed Win 8.1 pro. Connected it to a brand new 4K UHD TV. Video, gaming, and music production is PHENOMENAL! Boot up and shut down under 2 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever This is really best replacement for home theatre comp. The only issue is the core temp, - it is higher that casual desktop CPU.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, quiet, and small. Intel's NUCs have been getting better and better. This is the first i7 NUC. I use it as a blue iris server and it works great! CPU usage is about 20-30% and the fan is dead quiet at this level. Even at peak loads, the fan is not that loud and definitely bearable. I would image this NUC would work great as a HTPC and basic gaming machine. As always, intel provides fantastic driver support. The had Windows 10 drivers published before Windows was officially released.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mini PCI-e M--2 SSD I like my NUC, Be careful about the tiny screw on top of stand off on motherboard which is needed to install M-2 SSD to PCI-e port, I lost the screw, I have to call intel to ship replacement, It cost me $ 6 for S&H but the price for screw was only $2.
