Encrypt your data using two passes and dual crypto processors using the 500GB DL3 FE Encrypted External USB 3.0 Hard Drive (FIPS Edition) from DataLocker. This 500GB external hard drive uses a 2-pass, cascading encryption with two independent crypto engines that each use random and unique 256-bit keys to encrypt data. It first uses a 256-bit AES XTS mode algorithm and then a sequential 256-bit AES CBC mode algorithm that is FIPS 140-2 validated. Each bit of stored data is encrypted twice with two independent keys which never leave the DL3 FE.
The DL3 FE also features a built-in LCD touchscreen, allowing users to perform virtually all processes using the LCD interface. This helps to make the DL3 FE platform independent. The DL3 also features a rotating keypad that helps prevent surface analysis for fingerprint or pattern examination and a self-destruct mode that wipes the encryption key after a customizable set number of failed password attempts. The touchscreen keypad itself is alphanumeric and backlit, allowing users to create strong passwords for increased security. Additional security is provided through DataLocker Link technology, which allows a DL3 to be paired to a specific computer, which further helps prevent unauthorized data access.
The DL3 FE connects to your system using a USB 3.0 connection which is also USB 2.0 compatible. It has a minimum power requirement of 5V and 1A of current that is drawn from the USB port. While the DL3 FE is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux, it comes pre-formatted for Windows NTFS, but also supports HFS, EXT, and FAT. Included with the DL3 FE is a USB cable.
