question

Does this mount to a tripod head (leveling base) from the leveling base's thread? Or does it have to be attached by a screw that threads in to the leveling base? I am just trying to add the quick release ability but my leveling base has no receiver holes. Thanks in advance.
Asked by: brian
This Discal Clamp has 3/8 -16 mounting thread with 1/4 -20 bushing adapter. it needs a a male 3/8 -16 or with the bushing provided a male 1/4 -20 screw.

question

What is the maximum diameter of the tripod base I could mount it to without its screw knob interfering with the tripod base? My tripod base is rather large with 100mm (3.9 inches).
Asked by: Anonymous
The screw knob could possibly interfere with the tripod base if the ballhead was pointed directly upwards (with the ballhead dropped into the slot and pulled back as far as it would go). The solution in that case is to position the locking screw under the lens and tighten the clamp from the front of the camera rather than the back, which is my default method anyway. Unless you regularly take photos of the ceiling or the overhead sky it is a non-issue. As others have pointed out, the only real deficiency of this clamp is the very short throw of the locking screw, which means minimal movement of the screw can let the camera come loose. If it had the same amount of turns as every other Sunwayfoto clamp I have used it would be perfect for the Arca P0 head.

question

Is it compatible with L-brackets?
Asked by: Guray T.
Yes, it works with Arca-Swiss compatible L brackets. I use an L bracket by Sunwayfoto, bought from B&H, on my Sony Rx10.

question

Does this come with arca swiss plate?
Asked by: Sachin S.
No it does not come with an arca swiss plate, primarily because there are several lengths depending on the end use. I'll also add that the arca swiss plates available from various sources are not identical--but with this clamp it isn't an issue.
