The EQ2 from Maag Audio models the company's acclaimed 500 Series two band hardware equalizer and provides a perfect companion to their EQ4 six-band EQ. Featuring a low-mid frequency band along with the Air Band, the plug-in is useful for two bus duties, as well as for individual tracks.
The software maintains very low phase shift across all EQ adjustments, which helps to maintain the integrity of a mix while enhancing the "Air" frequencies. The Air Band interacts with the other bands to tonally sculpt tracks from top to bottom with transparency and top-end presence. Each band can be individually by-passed.
The eleven low-mid frequency bell selections are distributed across six wide and five tight curves, allowing the equalizer to zoom in on problem areas and making it a great tool for fixing those, or for creating more radical changes. The EQ2 also features an input attenuator to help normalize the signal before applying EQ, such as those that might come from an over driven microphone preamp.
Two-band EQ plug-in, modeled after the Maag Audio EQ2 500 Series hardware module
Low phase shift across all EQ adjustments
Input attenuator provides up to -12.5 dB of input level adjustment, useful for taming hot outputs from over driven microphone preamps
Low-mid frequencies split between two bell curves (tight and wide) with a curve switch selecting the appropriate range of frequencies
Wide curve boost available at Sub, 57, 88, 220, 400 Hz and 1.4 kHz
Tight curve boost available at 40, 65, 150, 250 Hz and 1.4 kHz
Gain control for the low-mid frequencies from +12 dB (tight) to +15 dB (wide)
Air Band boost only shelf at 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 40 kHz peak frequencies
Frequencies below the shelf peaks are also affected due to the transitional slope
Air Band gain from +12 dB @ 40 kHz to +17 dB @ 2.5 kHz
Individual EQ channel bypass
