Manfrotto MB OR-BP-20GY overview

  • 1Description

Before hitting the trail on your next adventure, consider the 20L, gray Off road Hiker Backpack from Manfrotto for holding, protecting and organizing your photography gear and travel items. A fully-featured backpack, this one offers an insert, multiple compartments, tripod pocket, shoulder straps, waistband and more.

For starters, the backpack includes a padded, zippered insert with movable touch-fastening dividers for storing a small DSLR with attached lens, an additional small lens, and accessories. The fabric-hinged lid closes with a zipper and has a carry handle on top. This insert stows at the base of the backpack inside a designated, side compartment with a zippered-flap. Keeping heavier items on the bottom helps lower your center-of-gravity when carrying the bag, thereby improving your balance and reducing fatigue.

Clothing, food, flashlights, and related personal items store in the main upper compartment above the insert. For weather protection, this compartment seals with a drawstring, and is covered by a large top flap that cinches tight with adjustable, quick-release straps. In the event of precipitation, simply deploy the included waterproof, nylon rain cover which is in matching gray and form-fitted for the backpack. For toting camera supports the backpack offers a side-pocket for larger tripods and elastic cords at the rear for smaller ones. And to greet the great outdoors in style, Manfrotto manufactures tripods and walking sticking in matching, color-coordinated gray.

For stability, structural integrity, and comfort, the Off road Hiker Backpack features two adjustable shoulder straps of 3-D molded foam, as well as a padded adjustable waist band with a smartphone pocket. To reduce unwanted backpack movement, shoulder straps have two adjustable chest straps with quick-connects. In warmer weather, hikers will appreciate the transpiring back system with padded nylon mesh to help wick-away moisture from their backs. When not on your back, the backpack may be carried by its top handle strap.

    Manfrotto MB OR-BP-20GY reviews

Off road Hiker Backpack (20L, Gray) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This pack is great I seem to forever be buying camera bags looking for the right fit, size and utility in it. This one ticks the boxes most important to me. Fits very well and very light. Not too bulk and not too small (fit). Plenty of room for my Fujifilm X-Pro 1 and a couple of lens. extra space on top for just whatever. Does not look like a camera bag. Ventilated back so that I am not sweating to death. Nice little strap in the front to hold my camera while I need my hands for whatever. Very pleased and do not see myself buying a new camera bag for some time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect light backpack I needed a smallish light backpack to carry gear on a short hike and this one is great. Definitely light but able to carry d7200 and a 18-140 lens and extra lens in camera pouch section and an extra lens in the top section as well as tripod on side. It didn't feel like it dragged on back or shoulders the harness is comfortable for the most part. The one downside I had was the straps dug in to my arms a bit while walking but that is because of body shape.there's lots of space in top compartment for extra accessories and /or jacket and snacks. And water bottle pocket nice and big. Overall a great bag I would recommend it.padding adequate for 1 camera with lens and extra small lens but would recommend getting a wrap or pouch if you want to carry more lenses like I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design and Protection This bag holds my Canon T3i with 18-55 lens with the hood mounted. I also have a budget 75-300mm Canon lens with hood in the compartment and there is still room for a filter pack. The padded pocket doesn't go all the way across, instead leaving room for the other side compartment in which I have two lenses in padded sleeves. The drawstring top means that I can take my jacket off later in the morning and still have room to stow it with my gear. As another reviewer mentioned, the camera compartment (plus the side pocket) takes up about half the storage. I found the pack to be a bit short on my 6'2 frame, but it's passable. The fact that the pack has a bent aluminum stay down the middle and very adjustable waist and shoulder straps makes this pack more comparable to a bonafide hiking pack with camera storage added to it. I'm fine with that. If I'm going to carry three lenses, a body, a tripod and ALSO carry lunch and a sweater, I appreciate good ergonomics. One note: I couldn't find any video reviews on the 20L, just the 30L. FYI: the 20L lacks the tablet pocket on the outside of the back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good pack very well made bag, and well laid out for what it is intended. This will not care a lot of camera gear, my D610 will not fit in with a lens on it. I can place a 70-300 and a couple of small primes in the camera area, but it is great for just that, carry a couple of lenses, I unzip the divider and get my BeFree tripod inside.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They got a lot of things right Pros: (1) Excellent weight distribution. Carry DSLR + 3 lenses (no huge telephotos) and it's very light, comfortable and well-balanced. (2) Side access to camera compartment is indispensible when unable/inconvenient (wet ground) to remove backpack while changing lenses, etc. (3) Easy to attach (collapsed travel) tripod to exterior. Cons: (1) Internal frame extends too high and hits head when bending down for close shot and bending head back -- quite annoying. (2) Camera insert is just this much too narrow to fit DSLR + anything but a kit lens. I have removed the insert and just use the padding + lenses individually wrapped -- not ideal. Why they didn't extend the insert/bottom section 1 seems to be quite an oversight, as many others have observed. Good, not great: (1) Essential to have rain cover, but would be more inclined to use it if it were attached and not separately stowed. (2) Waistband is bulky. I remove it most of the time, unless going on a very long hike. Have been using the pack for 4 months now and, overall, feel it's a good choice, from the options available for day-hiking photo backpacks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this pack!! Absolutely love this pack! My canon 5d mkii fits perfectly with a 70-200 attached. There is plenty of room on top of added day pack supplies.
