The housing provides access to virtually all camera functions via mechanical controls. It also has an ergonomic design with 2 grips that offer improved handling and attachment points for optional lighting arms. Built for durability, especially resistance to corrosion, the housing is constructed from an anodized, machined aluminum alloy and stainless steel.

The A5DSR ships without a required lens port, though various interchangeable ports are available for wide-angle, macro, and zoom lenses. For full compatibility, see the Type 1 Port Chart and Type 4 Port Chart.

Waterproofing

  • Depth rating: 295', upgradeable to 426'
  • Surveyor moisture alarm alerts you in unlikely event of a breach in waterproof seal
  • This version of housing includes pre-installed vacuum check system, which allows you to confirm watertight integrity before dive
  • Known as Vacuum Circuitry and Alarm Kit, the atmospheric pressure-sensitive system consists of a vacuum valve, an extracting pump, and a moisture alarm/pressure sensor with an on/off switch
  • Valve and extracting pump contribute by ensuring that a solid vacuum is created inside the housing

Controls, Handling, and Operation

  • Provides easy access to virtually all camera functions, including live view toggle, set button, and multi-controller pad, via mechanical controls
  • Controls for aperture, shutter, ISO, and strobe exposure are all accessible with your hands-on grips
  • Control extender arm for ISO button
  • Over-sized video recording button is located close to your thumb and features bright red coating for quick identification
  • AF-ON and star button access is provided with rotating collar that prevents ambient pressure from pushing it back towards housing
  • Menu buttons angled to provide easier reach with left hand
  • Prime lens focusing can be done via control knob on upper left side of housing
  • Gear system incorporates smaller housing pinion gear and larger lens gear, resulting in smoother action while zooming in video sequences
  • Zoom actuating pinion gear and the lens release lever pull out to allow you to remove camera from rear while still keeping a lens and zoom gear attached
  • Knurled knobs and oversized controls for ease of use, even while wearing diving gloves
  • Battery and memory card replacement are also simple tasks, thanks to tray that positions camera precisely in housing and can be disengaged with just a push on a tab
  • Ergonomic design with 2 grips that offer improved handling and attachment points for optional lighting arms
  • Standard, coated eyepiece offers a full view of the camera's viewfinder

Construction Details

  • Built for durability, especially resistance to corrosion, the housing is made in Canada from anodized aluminum alloy and stainless steel, and tested in harsh conditions
  • Housing shell crafted using 5-axis computer-assisted machines

  • Sacrificial zinc anodes safeguard vulnerable parts of housing, corroding themselves so housing will not be subjected to corrosion
  • All push buttons made from Type 304 stainless steel
