Benro FTA28CV1 Tripod with V1E Ball Head Overview

Support up to 22 lb with the FTA28CV1 Travel Angel Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod and the V1E Ball Head. This compact tripod features reverse-folding legs that enable the tripod to fold down to 18.7", which combined with its 4 lb weight makes this a suitable tripod for travel. When the 4-section twist-lock legs are fully extended the FTA28CV1 reaches a height of 66.9". One of the legs can be removed and connected to the center column to create a monopod for added versatility.

The legs are made from 9-layer carbon fiber for minimizing weight without sacrificing strength. To add stability, the rapid center column has a ballast hook on the bottom so that you can hang a stabilizing weight such as a heavy bag or case. Rubber feet and stainless-steel spikes let you use the tripod on a variety of surfaces such as grass, ice, or wooden and tile floors. A dust cover and a carrying case with a shoulder strap are included to protect the legs when not in use.

The included V1E ball head has separate pan and ball locks, and an Arca-type clamp with a quick release plate. A 90° notch lets you quickly change your camera to portrait orientation, and an integrated bull's-eye bubble level helps maintain horizontal alignment. The base of the head connects to a tripod or monopod via a 3/8"-16 thread and the included plate provides a 1/4"-20 camera mount.

question

Does the camera mount physically lock into the ball head? Or it positioned and then tightened with a tension screw?
Asked by: Vicki O.
The ball head has an Arca-type mount plate. The camera or the telephoto lens is placed on the plate and a knob is used to tighten. The camera or the lens MUST have an Arca-type plate attached to it. It is very easy to use, and extremely secure - more than those with a screw screwed into the camera. The tripod is great, very sturdy and stable. I have the 22-pound version.

question

What is the difference between this and the series 1 travel angel?
Asked by: Anonymous
I opted for the FTA28CV1 Travel Angel Series 2 OVER the FTA28CV0 Travel Angel Series 1 mainly for two (2) reasons: 1)LOAD CAPACITY. Series 2 - 22 lbs VS Series 1 - 17.6 lbs, and 2)MAXIMUM HEIGHT. Series 2 - 66.9 inches VS Series 1 - 60.8 inches. My Canon 7DMkII / Sigma 150-600mm Sports birding gear, both also purchased from B&H, weighs just shy of 10 lbs overall and I believed Series 2 was just right for it. My field experience validate it. At 4 lbs, the tripod is no sweat to lug around.
