question

How does this work if you already have the lens hood/filter kit? Would it still fit?
Asked by: Anonymous
I bought the PSC-6200 case before I bought the lens hood/filter kit. I do not like an unprotected lens on any camera. I always want to have a UV filter in front of the lens to protect it from being scratched. This is not possible on the G3X without having the filter kit attached so I purchased that for this reason. Now the supplied lens cap becomes useless so you have to purchase a 67mm lens cap in order to protect the UV filter. This whole set-up adds about a 1/2 inch to the front of the lens itself. When you go to put the case on the camera you now have a gap between the case body and the case flap. It does not fit very well although you can put the case flap on the front and it will snap on there even with the hood attached in the reverse position. It is not a good fit any longer and I don't think I would have bought the case had I known this would be the case. The fit is very tight and there is now a gap. If you remove the hood it does fit better with just the filter adapter/UV filter/67mm lens cap. So that is what I do to make the case work. Not ideal but it does fit sans the hood. I do use the case this way because I own it but you might be better off finding a small bag that will accommodate the complete set up. It is my opinion that the lens hood/filter kit is a necessity to protect your lens the PSC-6200 Deluxe Case not so much.
