    Panasonic DMC-CM1 Reviews

Lumix DMC-CM1P 16GB 4K Photo Camera and Smartphone (Unlocked, Black/Silver) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Camera with Cellphone After two weeks, I can say that the camera is very capable. The phone is surprisingly good. There are no cases made for the device nor even a lens cap for a fine optic. There is a 64 page guide and an advanced online guide of over 200 pages. The camera takes 20 mg images in RAW or jpeg. The lens is a 4x zoom f 2.8. Full manual mode is possible with many pre-set modes. The phone is unlocked and accepts most U.S. carriers sim cards. The device is solid and intuitive. The camera is not for novices, there are many features with a steep learning curve. I will update the review after I have used it longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its not a phone with a camera its a camera with a phone The best camera is the one you have with you and in this case a really good one too. My regular equipment is a full frame Canon 6d with 4 lenses, and my secondary camera was the Panasonic Lumix LX7. When I saw this new camera-phone with a fixed Leica objective, I sure it was a must have. And I have to say that it hasn't disappointed me. All settings that I would find on my other Panasonic camera can be found in the menus which are intuitive and well organized. In daylight the sharpness is comparable to the FF Canon at a 100% crop, the colors and contrast is though not on the same level, but are natural and satisfying. Under darker conditions the camera continues to deliver, and out performs any phone I have seen, useable images up to ISO 3200. My LX7 has gone on pension, no longer needed after my phone got upgraded to the Panasonic Camera-phone Lumix CM1. And yes it is a little bulky, but with the power of a 1 Inch censor camera in your pocket, it for sure is the photographer's best phone choice. Rated 4 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT PICTURE QUALITY, SHAKY VIDEO. I was so excited when i order it over the blackfriday sale, i have to admit i was blown away by the image quality of a phone camera we call Panasonic CM1. Pictures are well detailed, sharp and bright lens, ample controls for manual users.Everything was piture perfect till i tested the Vider, i was going to compromise with 4K 15FPS too but not having OIS, or Image satblization killed the whole concept.I wish there was a Xenon Flash and image stablization in the camera.I just sold mine on @.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best point-and-shoot camera I've ever had I use this little camera to take pictures whenever I don't have my Canon 6D with me. This little camera is fast and the pictures it takes are sharp; and of course, it is always available because it easily fits in my pant's or jacket's pocket. I have not used it yet as a telephone, because I care little about telephones. In fact I have not contacted my phone carrier yet. So I don't care whether is camera turns out to be a good phone or not. I'm extremely happy with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bought a 2nd one my everyday point-and-shoot-and-blog camera. Cleanest high ISO photos ive seen for a smartphone, and even beats out regular point-and-shoot cameras. Reason im getting a 2nd one: for spare/backup. Panasonic is coming out with the DMC-CM10, same camera specs, except no phone. Text still functions with a SIM card. Bad Move, Panasonic. Not everyone has savvy relatives that use skype. PEOPLE STILL USE PHONES TO TALK. Panasonic's direction with this excellent product is disturbing, they may not have a full phone on their next iteration after the CM10. Too bad. I like having 2-in-1 device that does both excellently. Plus the camera/phone doesnt look like it will survive a 5ft drop (havent dropped it yet, caring for it REALLY well), and its certainly not waterproof. Anything happens, at least i have a spare. Plus BH just dropped the price ridiculously. Get one. Or two. Like i did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little camera First off I am only giving it 4 stars because I can not comment on the phone portion. I have only used the camera and the wifi connectivity. Its wifi performance at my house is better then either my Samsung Note Edge or my Samsung Tab S2.So that is a definite plus. The OS does update to Android 5.0.2 automatically. The camera performs very well. All of the functions are very easy to use once you get comfortable with selecting a function on the touch screen and then using the ring around the lense to adjust the specific settings. The only function I wished it had was OIS but I am using mostly in broad day light so fhe lack ahs not been an issue, plus it has a fast lense so that helps.I really recommend it as a very high quality pocket camera, especially at the $ price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Better smart phone than camera! First I want to thank B&H for their usual quality service and quick delivery. I was hoping this CM1P would replace my Nokia 1020 41mp camera smart phone. No matter how many adjustments I make, it does not produce image quality near what the 1020 does. Shooting with the 1020, what you see in the finder is what you get. Not so with the CM1P. Lacking optical stabilization makes it near worthless in low light indoor shooting, where the 1020 really shines! The cell phone I updated with Android 5.0 and it's amazingly fast. Faster than my Samsung Tablets. So I will be sending it back, and buy another 1020 as backup since after two years of use my orginal one is not holding a charge like it use to. I put back on my Nokia battery grip to get a day's worth of normal use. Was really hopeful as I own two wonderful Panasonic cameras LX3 and LX100.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was expecting I bought this phone for the soul purpose of having a decent quality camera in my pocket at all times. It was a downgrade from the speed and battery life of my last phone ans has a slower and smaller screen, BUT the ability to know that I can take a good Image at any time far outward all drawbacks!I knew what I was buying in terms of the pros and cons, the weight, size, battery life etc. I have an old Cannon EOS 7D and the camera on this phone can produce nearly identical images, both in quality and range of manual settings. If you are looking for a great phone AND a great camera look elsewhere, but if you want the best possible compromise of the too, then you have found it! Biggest Pro- The best camera is the one you have with you - Chase JarvisBiggest Con- No freaking tripod mount or lens cap on a Leica lens? Come on!** Things I had to buy **- 28mm lens

In what country is this product manufactured?
    Asked by: Anonymous
A potentially good name, i.e., Leica/Lumix originally--Japan...but now China??? Why do we (FREE countries) continue to outsource to those alien countries??? Alien to our free enterprise system, that is.

What do you think of the Cotta lens tube/hood for the CM1? Any other good accessories you know about?
    Asked by: Ted C.
It will protect your lens from damage, and also acts as a hood, but it will increase the dimensions of your phone.I found a good case alternative for this phone on one of the japanese websites.

Is there any kind of lens cover over the lens when the camera is not being used?
    Asked by: James D.
Cotta makes a lens extension ring that functions like a small lens hood to make sure the lens does not come into contact with anything when it is fully extended. You could put a filter on it if you want, but I just leave it open. You can see photos of it in the CM1 flickr group.
