The T Speed Booster XL 0.64x Adapter for Full-Frame Canon EF-Mount Lens to Select Micro Four Thirds-Mount Cameras from Metabones allows a full-frame Canon EF-mount lens to be mounted onto a Micro Four Thirds-mount camera. While doing so, the adapter's optics help to maximize the connected lens's apparent angle of view while providing a 1.3-stop increase for the camera over the lens's aperture range.

If a lens intended for 35mm film or similarly-sized "full frame" camera sensors is connected to a camera with a Micro Four Thirds-sized sensor, it would project an image larger than the Micro Four Thirds sensor was built to accept. Able to capture only the center portion of the projected image, the effective angle of view of the lens would be narrowed, creating an in-camera "crop factor". The T Speed Booster XL 0.64x Adapter for Full-Frame Canon EF-Mount Lens to Select Micro Four Thirds-Mount Cameras condenses the light from a lens designed for 35mm film or "full frame" camera sensors and projects it onto a Micro Four Thirds sensor. This allows a Micro Four Thirds sensor to utilize more of the light gathered by a connected lens, which effectively reduces the crop factor while making available to the sensor an additional 1.3 stops of light for each of the lens's f/stop settings.

This adapter is constructed from aluminum alloy for durability while minimizing weight and its mounting rings are made with brass to further prevent wear-and-tear. Inside are six lens elements in four groups that are designed to provide optical clarity as well as color fidelity, and a detachable tripod foot is included that features 3/8" threads as well as compatibility with Arca-Swiss tripod heads.

The T Speed Booster XL 0.64x Adapter for Full-Frame Canon EF-Mount Lens to Select Micro Four Thirds-Mount Cameras supports electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. If the lens includes autofocus, image stabilization, as well as camera-controlled aperture functions, this adapter is intended to allow those features to be used. Also, if an attached lens is capable of generating EXIF metadata when used with a directly compatible camera, the T Speed Booster XL 0.64x Adapter for Full-Frame Canon EF-Mount Lens to Select Micro Four Thirds-Mount Cameras is designed to allow that information to be saved along with image files generated with a combination of the lens, a compatible Micro Four Thirds-mount camera, and the adapter.

This adapter can be mounted onto the Panasonic DMC-GH4, GH3, G3, G5, G6, G10, GF3, GF5, GF6, and GX1 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Cameras; the Olympus PEN E-PL7 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera; the Blackmagic Cinema Camera with Micro Four Thirds mount; and the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

  • Allows a full-frame Canon EF-mount lens to be used with a Micro Four Thirds-mount camera
  • Maximizes apparent angle of view of combined camera and lens
  • Provides a 1.3-stop increase for the camera over the lens's aperture range
  • Integrated jog dial for incremental aperture adjustment and push-button access to lens's widest aperture setting when used with a compatible Panasonic camera
  • Six lens elements in four groups for optical clarity as well as color fidelity
  • Supports electronic communication between camera and lens to enable autofocus, image stabilization, on-camera aperture control, and EXIF metadata generation when possible
  • Internal coating minimizes reflections within the adapter barrel
  • Detachable, Arca-Swiss compatible tripod foot with 3/8" threads
  • Aluminum alloy components for weight reduction
  • Brass mounting rings prevent wear-and-tear
  • Locking mechanism for secure attachment of lens with push-button release

T Speed Booster XL 0.64x Adapter for Full-Frame Canon EF-Mount Lens to Select Micro Four Thirds-Mount Cameras is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 105.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great as advertised I bought this for my GH4, I was using a cheap speedbooster knock off before as I use mostly Rokinon Cine lenses that are all manual aperture and focus. I bought the Speedbooster XL to get the super35 crop factor and the extra 1 1/3 stops on my lenses. Not only did the speedbooster do all that excellently, my lenses are now noticeably sharper than with the knock off, and even sharper (somehow) than with just a regular non-speedbooster adapter. Trying some of my few electronic canon lenses it works great. My F1.4 lenses are now f0.89 equivalents! Which really helps out the not great low light on the GH4. I love this thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bitterly Disappointed Well this simply did not work with my EF canon lens on my GH5. Major issues with electronic flicker across footage if the Image Stabilizer was on and then just automatically shutting down the iris, then cranking wide open and freezing, had to disconnect the lens to switch the camera off. Created back-focus issues with the lens. If you zoomed it put on even more flicker. Video pictures unusable. As a professional news gathering cameraman, I am bitterly disappointed that I can't use EF Canon glass on my new GH5. Will have to use Panasonic glass only....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Buy Great buy, but pricey. Does indeed add 1.3 stops of additional light which is extremely useful for the GH4. With the canon version I am able to use canon as well as non G Nikon lens with an additional cheap adapter or even G lenses with an expensive G adapter. Auto focus is pretty quick with all of the canon lenses I've tried. Fit and finish of the adapter is very good(snug fit to camera mount. 50mm 1.4 Nikon Manuel Nikkor (old 1970- non G) lens was sharp stepped down to about F2.8 and even F4. The pictures and video were wonderful. GH4 Peaking feature makes focusing a breeze with any Manuel focus lens. 4 stars were given only because of the price of the adapter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool. Must have if you want to keep you canon glass. Make the the GH4 a true 35mm. Speeds up your lens over a stop. You know the rest...if you have a GH4 and have EF lens this thing is awesome! Notes: -Pair with Simga 18-35 for amazing results. -I get vignetting with my Tokina 11-16 but only up to 13 mm, As expected with ASP-C lens. -It sometimes (twice in four hour shoot) looses connection with the body (loose aperture control/IS/AF) and you have to wiggle it or rotate the lens or adapter a little to get it to work. -It's expensive. -Cool having a 35 mm equivalent and having true lens focal length when you are coming from crop sensor cameras. -Make your lenses Super Fast!! And Wider! -Get a good variable ND filter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always loved Metabones - This new one is even better I use this adaptor with my Panasonic GH4. It seems this new model is the outcome of making small adjustments overtime from feedback. I've used older models from the past and the small tweaks really make this guy shine. There are zero issues (so far) with lens to camera communication or start up times. It works so smoothly that I forget that I'm using an adaptor. It seems like it's just part of the camera. You also can't beat the extra stop of light into the sensor. Build quality is solid and great optically. The 0.64x gives you full APS-C coverage on your M 4/3 sensor so have at it with EF-S lenses. They even added the black suede to the interior of the adaptor for reduced light refractions. All the small things add up to make it a pleasure to use. Also, auto-focus is definitely usable. Many have complained that using adaptors essentially kills your AF ability but this one doesn't search for focus nearly as long as the older models did. It's actually quite fast. Overall, if you want to shoot with EF glass on your M 4/3 cameras, this is the adaptor to get. If you can forget it's there, it's doing it job perfectly. Now you can just focus on getting your shot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The reason I left Canon (for now) The GH4 is a great little camera but the noise at high ISOs and crop factor (2.3x in 4k?!?!?) were deal breakers. I've shot projects with full frame and crop sensor Canon DSLRs for years but they aren't made for true video production. (Even the low end consumer camcorders have Zebras.) Then Metabones updated their adapter lineup and BOOM! Suddenly the GH4 was starting to look like a viable option. Yes, the adapter is more expensive than others but if you are like me and invested in Canon glass it's worth it. Being able to turn a F4 L lens into a 2.8f with IS is well... it's a thing of beauty. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome. changed the gh4 completely, AT first when I got the gh4 I was very unpleasantly surprised by the over sharpness of the camera and how the sensor registered images overall. Like Shane Hurlbut said, the camera was way too sharp and was more geared toward broadcast content rather than cinema. However, with this adapter/diopter it completely changed my gh4 into a cinematic image creator. If you are interested in shooting affordable anamophics and cinema content, I would not use the gh4 without this adapter. Hope this helps. cheers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! I purchased this to use with my Panasonic GH4 for video. The fit and finish on this unit is outstanding. It does everything as advertised. I installed it on my camera and that's pretty much it. It's completely discipline free. It works. I'd buy this again in a heart beat. It is a great addition to my camera kit. If I had any nit picks at all it would be that the rubber usb cover could come out over time; it's not a super tight fit. Also though it's a nice feature (for someone) I don't have any use for the built in aperture adjustment on the side. Also, I found out that if your lens is f1.4 or faster, the camera will not show the adjusted aperture in-camera even though, in reality, the aperture is being adjusted.
