    Speco Technologies D16VT2TB reviews

    16-Channel 1080p HD-TVI DVR with 2TB HDD is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I want to love this unit. I bought this unit from B&H, and service was excellent, and was delivered bnib. I am not a dealer or installer, just an end consumer, but I am not novice to dvr's and surveillance. I got tired of the Chinese knock offs systems, so I went with speco. The setup is easy, and networking is easy to setup too, basic, and intuitive. Support from speco is decent via email but very limited if u r not an installer or dealer. The unit itself feels solidly built, and easy on the eyes, and has an extremely quiet operation. The reason I only gave it 4 stars, is b/c of the mobile viewing app. I used the specco ddns, and that was the major reason why I bought it, and it worked fine for about 2 weeks, then for no obvious reasons, and with no changes of any sort made to the system or router, it stopped connecting to the dvr and I was unable to see or playback anything through the mobile app. I read the app reviews for: Speco player, for IOS and android, and they were all pitiful at best,... c/o lack of updates, constant crashing, etc,... I ended up connecting my iPhone app to the DVR using my DynDns Domaine, after disabling the Speco DDNS, and opening the appropriate ports and forwarding in my router, it works great now. The machine itself is very sophisticated, and I seriously doubt I will ever use more then the basic functions. I like how it emails me daily a snap pic of all cameras, and alert me via email to any change or discrepancy. All in all, I love the unit, and I am not returning it as I considered initially due to mobile app and speco DDNS issues. Hope this helps.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from iOS app needs work This unit replaced another brand that was damaged in a lightning storm. The dvr itself gives very clear images and aside from not being able to activate PTZ on it ( I'm sure i'll eventually figure that out), it seems robust and capable. I use it to remotely record and view activity at an unattended CarWash. My issue is with the app. I use iOS devices and was used to an app that allowed easy viewing and play backward and forward. Also remote setup on the app was available on the prior app, not this one. Playback is just awkward on this app. The dvr has all the necessary features, but one just can't access them remotely in any manner that I have been able to find. The instructions reference a Speco client that is supposed to allow PCs and Macs access, but I have tried to download each and cannot make them run. It's probably just operator error, but I think I have above average iOS and PC skills. Still working on it.
