Fill medium sized venues with 60 watts of power from Blackstar's ID:60 TVP-H Modeling Guitar Amplifier Head. Using the built-in modeling horsepower, up to 12 preset configurations can be saved for instant recall at the touch of a button on the front panel, or with a stomp on a (separately available) footswitch. Since the amp operates with presets, there are no traditional channel switching limitations. The six available voice options range from clean to crunch to the all-out saturation of the OD 1 and OD 2 voicings.
Along with voicings, the presets can save individual equalization, effects, and TVP selection. TVP (True Valve Power) models the response of one of six selectable tube power amp sections; EL84, 6V6, EL34, KT66, 6L6, or KT88. Each type of power amp section influences the overall feel of your tone differently, ranging from more compressed with more overdrive to open and dynamic with more clarity. Also on tap is Blackstar's ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) control. The ISF shifts the response of the tone stack, between a US-type response at one end, and a UK-type response on the other. And then, between the two extremes lie an infinite number of alternative tone choices. You can program each preset with its own ISF setting, so your tones can "cross the pond" from US to UK and back on a whim just by switching patches.
To customize your tones further, Blackstar also includes digital effects on the ID:60. Effect categories include modulation, delay, and reverb, with multiple variations within each category. Each effect is adjustable independently of the others, and multiple effects can be run simultaneously. A tap-tempo button allows you to precisely time the delay repeats to the desired tempo. If you wish to operate the amp WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), the Manual button switches away from your presets and allows you to operate the amp completely from the front panel controls without having to worry about accidentally overwriting your presets.
Additional amenities on the amplifier include MIDI connectivity for controlling the amp's programming, and access to all 128 presets (without an external controller, the head only allows access to 12 presets via the front panel). A USB audio output on the front panel is for recording digitally straight to your computer without the need for a microphone. The USB connection also grants the capability to communicate with a Windows or Mac computer that has Blackstar's free INSIDER software. INSIDER gets into the inner digital workings of the amp for editing and fine-tuning patches and tones, as well as re-amping audio back through the amp for flexible recording options. On the rear panel is a cabinet-emulated output for directly connecting the amplifier to studio consoles or sound reinforcement. Lastly, a 1/4" jack can be used to connect an MP3 player or other device for jamming along to your favorite tunes.
