A comprehensive guide to the technical and artistic sides of outdoor photography, Digital Nature Photography: The Art and Science from Focal Press is 220-page publication authored by professional nature photographers, John and Barbara Gerlach. Covering a broad subject, this book strives to teach using both an advanced skill set and a keen eye to depict a wide variety of outdoor subjects. This second edition of the publication has been updated to include topics on focus stacking, HDR, more information on multiple exposures, wireless flash, how to view RGB histograms, live view, using shutter priority mode with auto ISO, some new hand-held shooting techniques, and a look at the authors' equipment choices. New imagery has also been added to this edition, and includes a broader range of subjects, including ghost towns, the night sky, animals, and sports, in addition to the more traditional nature photographs the authors are best known for.

Digital Nature Photography: The Art and Science (Second Edition) is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would buy this again and recommend it to all enthusiasts. I have been in photography, lab and shooting, for over 60 years, beginning in high school. This has included college publicity/publication work, a 3 year US Army school enlistment - in the US and Europe, civilian US Army, small town photo business, newspaper sports, and in post day job retirement, a bit of free-lance travel work. I have always dabbled in fine art nature, wildlife, landscape, and even street photography both BW and color slide. And now digital work. I have a large library of photo books, technical and biographical. This second edition book, by John and Barbara is absolutely one of the best books of its kind, film or digital, that I have ever purchased. As an essentially self taught shooter I conclude that this is a 4 year degree, well illustrated and easy to understand, text book - all in 2l2 pages!
