  • 1Description

Nature, wildlife and adventure photographers packing a Pro DSLR with an attached lens, three extra lenses, a flash, a GoPro, accessories, and personal items for their next expedition will appreciate the gray Whistler BP 350 AW from Lowepro. The BP 350 AW features a zippered rear compartment with a removable insert and touch-fastening dividers for organizing your gear. The gray-colored interior facilitates locating your gear in low light. The rear lid covering the insert has a hinged back panel for grabbing a camera without having to unzip the whole lid. On the inside of the panel is a zippered accessory pocket and slip-in memory card pockets. This versatile, all-season backpack features a top pocket with a clear-mesh accessory pocket and key leash under the lid, rear gear access, and a zippered front compartment for storing personal items such as food and clothing.

While navigating technical terrain wearers will value the comfort and stability of the padded, adjustable shoulder harness, chest connector, and waist belt with quick release buckle. For improved airflow and cushioning, the pack has a rear panel fabricated from heat-embossed nylon and spandex-blended fabric. Exterior attachment points and compression straps provide multiple ways to secure a tripod, hiking poles, skis, and other items. The top of the pack has a haul strap for hanging the pack on a hook and lifting or lowering it while climbing with a carabiner. When not needed as a photography backpack, one may remove the insert for conversion to a day pack. Should a weather front move in, simply deploy the included all-weather cover. Constructed of 420D and 210D nylon, the BP 350 AW is both durable and strong.

    Lowepro 350 AW reviews

Whistler BP 350 AW (Gray) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a real backcountry backpack If you want to carry your camera gear around for a day, or on a quickie overnight trip, then this works just fine. But it most certainly is NOT a serious "all season" backpack. Even the roomier 450 would not be able to carry enough gear, even if you are an ultralight hiker. Pros: It's a Lowepro so it's very well made. Crush proof, and the 350 works fine as carry-on luggage. Cons: Not enough room for non-photo gear. NO WATER BOTTLE HOLDER! Geez. Zippers could have been better (water resistant) and charge a few dollars more. So this will be my travel bag during international travel, but not a serious backpacking bag except for day hikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty Quality This bag can definitely take a beating, and it will certainly protect your gear. Overall, it's a good bag with nice features, and it's one of the toughest made bags I've seen. However...it's a very heavy bag, the heaviest I've ever used. And because of the thick inserts, lenses with the hood attached won't fit without compromise, so less gear will fit. Other Lowepro products are like this as well. Because of this, I opted for Mindshift Backlight 26L. It fits more gear easily, and it's much lighter and more comfortable. I love & own other Lowepro bags/products. The Whistler 350 just wasn't for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great bag for my needs I recently spent a few weeks traveling with this bag and have found it to be well thought out and useful. I was able to double layer a few compartments and fit all I wanted in. The size is good if it was bigger I would put too much in and make it too heavy. I use my Think Tank Airport Addicted bag for jobs when I need the entire kit. I wish the outside long pocket was more 'gusseted' but thats about it. Its comfortable and fits me ok, I am 6' tall. Since I brought this on a few planes I opted to put my tripod inside the bag and not bring my 70-200 f/2.8 which would fit in the same space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice hiking photo backpack with some caveats A good backpack for carrying moderate amounts of gear. I can fit a d750+battery grip, 15-30mm f/2.8 Tamron and 200-500mm f/5.6 Nikon zooms, SB700 flash + batteries and other small accessories. That's it though. Can reconfigure to fit your needs and tastes as there are plenty of dividers. The top zippered pocket and expandable front section fits clothing, food, personal items, headlamps, etc. for a day's outing and you can lash a tripods or whatever you wish that's large and bulkier to the external strapping. It's not great with heavier loads over long distances because the stiffness of the back section prevents you from snugging it up tight to your body but it's not a hiking backpack. As a versatile photo backpack it does a very good job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lower Whistler BP 350 AW Ideal size for my use. Can use it for airline carry on. Lowepro is the gold standard; pricey but a quality product. It won't accommodate a 15 mac book but it's larger brother will. But the 450 is too big for carry on. Trade offs, there are always trade offs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, but on heavy side. This pack has great ergonomics in terms of accessing the back panel. I was looking for a pack to hike with and take into the back country as well as travel with. I wanted a pack that would allow for quick on/off the shoulder, un-zip the back panel and access the entire camera storage area. All lenses are secure, well padded and don't jostle around. Great construction and awesome materials. On the downside, this pack is pretty heavy when full loaded! This pack is roughly 6 lbs empty! Take that into consideration if you are looking for an uber light pack, might look at other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding bag! I have only owned four camera bags; Case Logic, LowePro, Nikon, and @ Basic camera bag. This camera bag is the best by far. The quality is exceptional. The design is innovative and fits perfectly for my lifestyle. There is plenty of room for my camera, lenses, and accessories; plus additional room for other items. This is important for me because I enjoy traveling and the outdoors. I needed a versatile bag that would protect my photography equipment in the many adventures I get into. If you're about functionality and durability, look no further. This is the bag for you. If you're just looking a bag to hold only your camera and aren't adventurous, this bag will be too pricey for you. The only addition I would have liked on this bag was a sleeve for my MacBook; I know...I can't have it all...but this bag comes close!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice pack I have wanted a panel loading pack through the back ever since I saw that feature in a small Vaude pack over ten years ago. Recently I began researching the F-Stop series of packs and was getting ready to order a Lotus. And then I saw the Lowepro Whistlers. At B&H. At a huge discount! So I ordered a 350 shipping included (one of their daily specials). This pack fits the bill: Large enough to carry all my Panasonic 4/3 equipment plus water bottles, extra clothing, tripod(s), rain gear, food, etc. The included camera box adds 1.75lbs. I have carried my equipment both in the box within the pack and without the box. For my purposes I feel that the extra protection of the box isn't needed. And I save a couple pounds of weight. I thought at first that having the box inside the pack would increase the rigidity but I just carried my Gitzo 2220 aluminum Explorer on the side of the pack up 2,000 vertical feet and 6 miles with complete control and comfort without the internal box. The pack weighed 30 lbs. I feel the pack is comfortable with the included box inside and more comfortable without it. Since it is a panel loader through the rear and no opening at the top (as in the F-Stops) it should be excellent protection from the elements. This is a very rigid daypack perfect for carrying my equipment with easy access. It comes with all the straps you could want for its intended purpose plus a raincover.
