More than just a flying action camera platform, the Scout X4 Quadcopter with G-3D Gimbal from Walkera comes equipped with an FPV transmitter - the DEVO F12E - video downlink capability, the G-3D 3-axis gimbal, and a Bluetooth datalink for ground station access. The quadcopter features a GPS-enabled flight controller giving it an assortment of assisted-flying and autopilot features, such as one-button return home, follow me, orbit mode, as well as waypoint mission planning via the ground station app for iOS and Android. Supplementing quality aerial image capture, the Scout X features retractable landing gear which can be raised in flight to provide the camera an unobstructed 360° view. Besides Walker's own iLook series of camera, the included gimbal also works with the GoPro HERO3, HERO3+, and HERO4 (available separately).

In addition to the aforementioned, this ready-to-fly bundle also includes a flight battery lasting up to 25 minutes, a battery charger, and a set of props.

12-Channel Transmitter with 5" FPV Display
The included transmitter features a 5" color display for viewing a live feed from the camera as well as OSD (on-screen display) telemetry data. This data includes battery voltage, GPS data, and temperature. The radio operates on the 5.8 GHz band

In addition to the on-board display, there is a composite video output on a 3.5mm connector so that you can use a field monitor of FPV goggles. There is also a headphone jack - also 3.5mm - so that you can hear the audible alerts without disturbing others
G-3D 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer
The included G-3D gimbal works with either the iLook and iLook+ or the GoPro HERO3, HERO3+, and HERO4 (available separately). It features a pitch control range (tilt) of -130 to +90° plus a roll range (horizontal leveling) of ±45°. Supporting both stick position and rate modes means it can be used to manually to move the camera (stick position) or can work autonomously to help keep the camera trained in the same direction even if wind turbulence causes the aircraft's position to fluctuate. It sports an overall controller accuracy of 0.02°


One-Button Take-Off
With the one-button take-off ("boost") feature, pressing a single switch on the transmitter causes the Scout X4 to lift off the ground and hover at an altitude of 15' until the pilot takes control

Flight Control System

GPS Position Hold
With this setting enabled, the copter will maintain a fixed hover over the defined GPS coordinates. The flight control system will work to counteract any wind turbulence, keeping the aircraft as steady as possible - ideal when recording video of a static subject
Hyper IOC Function
Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC) is designed to make flying more intuitive. Since multi-rotors are basically symmetrical, it is easy to lose track of which way the "noise" is pointing. With IOC enabled, pressing forward will always case the aircraft to move in the nose direction recorded at takeoff, regardless of which way the physical nose is actually pointing

Note: Correct IOC orientation requires the pilot remain standing in the same position from which the Scout X4 took off
Orbit Mode
The Scout X4 can be set to fly in a circle around a defined set of GPS coordinates. This can be useful for aerial video, creating a 360-degree tracking shot around a stationary subject. To define the radius, engage Orbit Mode while standing at the center point, then walk backward until you've reached the desired distance and takeoff
Return to Home Autopilot
One Key Go Home
With proper GPS calibration, pressing a single button on the transmitter (remote control) will cause the Scout X4 to fly back to the "home point" where it first took off

Failsafe Return to Home
When enabled, the aircraft will automatically fly back to the "home point" if the signal from the transmitter is ever lost

Warning: GPS must be calibrated before each flight to use these features. Otherwise, the H400 may fly toward its default home point, which may be in another country!
Follow Me
Have your copter follow you as you move, using a BT radio and a ground station. Wherever the operator holding the tablet or smart device connected to the ground station unit moves the Scout X4 will follow
GPS and Manual Flight Modes
Fly with GPS assistance for full auto-pilot redundancy or switch over to manual and get better maneuverability. In manual mode, GPS is not used, however the gyro, altimeter, accelerometer, and other sensors are still used to aid in flight stability

Ground Station System

Waypoint Mission Planning
The included 2.4G Bluetooth datalink module allows you to tether a mobile to the quadcopter , enabling advanced capabilities beyond what the regular transmitter offers. Waypoint mission planning, for example, allows you to lay down an autopilot course by applying drop pins ("waypoints") to a map. Different flight parameters, such as altitude, can be specified at each waypoint. A total of 128 waypoints can be used for a single mission
Designated Flight
Take advantage of your smart device's touchscreen to define an A-to-B flight path from takeoff to end point. You can resume manual control at any time
Return Home
Reversing designated flight, this modes tracks a predefined path ultimately arriving at the home point - the location where the quadcopter originally took off. The Scout will also automatically attempt to return directly to the home point if contact with the radio is ever lost
