question

how does one generally cut the printed photo off the roll?
Asked by: matias
I actually use a rechargeable, portable scissors which has an offset blade and cuts easier than using scissors, without lifting up the paper slightly to cut. The portable electric scissors stays on the cutting line better and just zips right along the line without any effort.

question

What do others think of the apparently flimsy attachment hooks? The RedRiver review showed broken plastic hooks. When I was in B&H yesterday, their floor model had broken hooks and was held on by duct tape. And 1 of 15 reviewers reported broken plastic hooks. Since the roll feeder is the primary reason to upgrade from 3880, it this a poison pill?
Asked by: Mark
It's plastic but it has no moving parts; it's just a bracket. It's only there for convenience and will only break if abused. You could even rig up a homemade one if you're cheap and handy. I use a wooden dowel.

question

will this work with heavier 3 core paper rolls such as ILFORD 2002414 GALERIE Prestige Gold Mono Silk and Hahnemuhle Photo Silk Baryta 310 ?
Asked by: simon b.
If it will go through the roll paper inlet for printing and your paper is 17 wide or less, shouldn't be a problem. Neat idea Austin K had about using a dowel or piece of closet rod.

question

Does the roll feeder allow the user to manually extend the paper so that you could say use a rotatrim on a table in front of the printer or is it limited to a set advance amount????
Asked by: Mary J
You will find in the manual that after printing an image(s) a menu option appears to Cut? . If Yes , it will print 2 guidelines one for cutting, one that marks the print border. It then will extend the paper out approx. a couple of inches beyond the feed tray. I need to push the tray in and place something (I just use the box the paper roll came in) about level with the tray (ie, a couple of inches above the table top that the printer is sitting on) to avoid creasing the unused paper on the roll. I place the paper cutter on the box and cut. When done you press FINISH and the paper retracts. The ease of doing this may depend on the width of the trimmer. Hope this helps.

question

I have an old Pro 4000 with roll media attachment. Can this attachment be removed from the 4000 and installed on the P800?
Asked by: robert w.
No. The upper attachments on the P800 are for clips and not the screw posts on the 4000.

question

with this accessory, how does one generally cut the printed photo from the roll?
Asked by: matias
I have a paper cutter that can accommodate the width of the paper. Unfortunately the printer does not have a paper cutter built in. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Roll Media Adapter though.
