Varavon B-16V 7416 Reviews

16V TPower for BCII/BMPCC Camera is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but cable is wonky The pack is excellent (even in extreme cold), but the power cable to the BMPCC disconnects all the time. I have to bend it a special way to charge. I'm not sure if this is the manufacturers fault (i've only used it 3 times on shoots), or my own doing (maybe I damaged the inner wiring by coiling it, albeit it not very tightly). I ordered three new cables from Varavon, and I'll add to my review after testing them. But the bottom line is that I'd caution potential buyers from viewing this as a viable substitute for real batteries, especially on a professional shoot, because you'll be dependent on those fragile .7mm pins, and 1 dismal cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable battery I use the 16V Varavon battery with the Varavon Birdycam II flying a Canon 70d with up to the weight of the 18-135mm STM lens. My favorite feature of this battery is a remaining power indicator. By pressing the button on top, it indicates power levels with 4 lights (4 is full power), but also allows each of the lights to blink individually (when they are the top level of power) to actually indicate 8 levels of power. For example, if it is 3/4 full, it will show 3 of the four lights lit. If it drops a little to 5/8 full, the first two lights will stay solid, and the 3rd will now blink to indicate that level is falling off. This is exteremly useful when I am pushing the battery to the end of a charge, as I know when it drops from 1/4 power to 1/8 power and need to switch to my other battery. My primary use of the Birdaycam II with this battery is as a wedding cinematographer, and the battery lasts better than my expectations. I have not needed to use my second battery any day I've shot a wedding. Keep in mind, I don't use the gimbal stabilizer constantly--mostly for a few shots before the ceremony, some after ceremony, and a lot at the reception. Also note, you need to balance the camera on the stabilizer well to optimize the life of the battery for each charge. Finally, it recharges faster than I expected as well. It sees like withinn an hour or two I can go from a low battery to full power. All-in-all I am very pleased with this battery, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
