Carry your photography equipment and 15" laptop off the beaten path to a foreign location or while on a hiking trip close to home in the rugged charcoal FirstLight 30L DSLR & Laptop Backpack from MindShift. Designed with the needs of outdoor photographers in mind, using multiple travel means, this high capacity backpack is built for extended days on the trail.

The roomy main compartment features adjustable and removable high-density foam dividers for your cameras, large telephoto lenses or any gear you need to complete the job; the FirstLight 30L was designed to fit 1 DSLR with a vertical grip, and 4-6 standard zoom lenses and 1 flash. Keep your tablet or 15" laptop in the separate front compartment, and your phone and wallet in the easily accessible top zippered pocket or the two front stuff pockets. Store your spare camera batteries, filters, and other small accessories in the interior mesh pockets and your water bottle in the designated pocket with drains and a built-in cinch cord for added security, or leave your water bottle at home and take advantage of the dedicated 3L hydration pocket on the side of the backpack. You can secure your tripod or monopod in the mounting system on the front or side of the backpack. Side compression straps with locking buckles provide additional lash points.

The FirstLight 30L is made of multiple types of durable nylon coated in water-repellant polyurethane, with a reinforced bottom panel for extra protection against harsh environmental elements. Designed to fit various statures and heights, the contoured harness system can be adjusted at 11 different points. Three grab handles make it easy to hoist into an overhead bin or in and out of vehicles en route to your destination. The shoulder straps and waist belt distribute weight evenly, while the shaped aluminum torso stay provides additional support, allowing you to stay out on the trail longer.

FirstLight 30L DSLR & Laptop Backpack (Charcoal) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've Used A very compact yet roomy and comfortable backpack. I configured the interior panels to fit the following: Nikon D3s with 70-200 attached, Nikon D-810 with 24-70 attached, Mindshift filter hive, Nikon 16-35, Nikon 105 macro, chargers for both cameras as well as all the smaller items you would expect to see in the pack. One nice feature is the way the tripod attachment hides away when not in use. You would actually not even know it was there, which is a very cleaver design. On the trail, the comfort proved to be as good as the quality of the backpack. This is my forth piece of Mindshift-Think Tank equipment and all are equally impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Quality - fits nicely for six footer Just returned from a trip to Yellowstone. I needed a new pack to fit my 150-600mm zoom and landscape lenses. This pack didn't disappoint. It has lots of storage options for lenses, cords, lap top etc. I'm not a hiker, I'm a 69 year old who needs to rush through airports and have all his equipment in one place in the rental car. My prior packs didn't quite fit right for a taller torso. This one adjusts perfectly. It fit perfectly in the overhead bin of a full size aircraft but needed to go under the seat of the connection flight smaller plane. I thought it was pricey when I bought it but I can see that it is quality, worth it and should last me through many travels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very High Quality Backpack I have owned several backpacks and learned a few things in the process. This is the highest quality bag of all. The zippers operate smoothly, the bag is of sufficient depth to for pro gear which is often overlooked as many bags are not deep enough. The general construction is of very sturdy material and interior padding is well engineered. The bag has great side pockets that hold large sized water bottles. Further this is the mid sized bag in the mindshift series and it is a great mid size. It fits my 5’ 8” frame very well and snugs up well, shoulder and waist straps are comfortable. This is a great bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great carry-on photo bag. I recently purchased this bag for a flight across the country. It fit everything I needed, Sony a7r ii, 16-35mm, 100-400mm, 50mm prime, & 100mm Macro prime with plenty of room for my intervalometer, filters, extra batteries and even some audio gear. Though I haven't needed it yet, I was happy it came with a rain cover. I took this bag comfortably on three separate hikes and found it as comfortable as any other backpack I've ever used. Construction seems pretty strong and I've seen nothing look like it's wearing or failing after a pretty solid week long outing. I'm really happy I bought this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent travel pack to include your long telephoto's I am a Senior traveler who likes having a photo backpack to get around airports and have all my equipment together during driving around. The pack fits nicely in the overhead compartment and under the seat on smaller connection flights - I don't like to part with my camera equipment. I currently am at Yellowstone NP with my Sigma 150-600mm lens and several landscape lenses. The pack holds everything I desire including my apple 13 inch lap top and all the related cords etc. The waste belt after minor adjustments sits firmly on my hips taking the load off my shoulders. I am 6'1 and my other pack just didn't fit my size. The extra dividers that come included give you lots of options for packing. I thought the pack was a bit expensive but when I received it I could see that it is truly quality and worth the cost. If your a tall person, this is the pack for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for tall photographer... Ideal backpack for photographer with 21.5 inch (or less) torso for both storing and carrying photography gear (e.g., large-body digital camera, 16-35mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, and mounted 70-200mm f/2.8; lens-hoods attached). Same gear can be transferred to belt system for quick access when field conditions dictate. Belt system must be purchased separately from sister or another company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent first impression Just opened package to reveal my 30L bag. All the material and zippers feel very well constructed. There are more than enough dividers. They are thinner than my older bags, but that seems like a common issue in many reviews of different brands. Something has to give to get the weight down and control size for travel. Only real issue I see is the front laptop slot really only has the thin outer material between your laptop and the world so any real harsh contact to the top may very well cause damage to laptop or for that matter tablet in the slot on top of laptop slot. I really bought it to protect my cameras and that appears to be excellent. I will have a better feel for the backpack after I complete the trip for which I purchased this. Overall, you can tell this is a product from Think Tank family of products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a bit underwhelmed! I receive the Firstlight 30L a few weeks ago and although i haven't use it a lot yet, I have to say that I'm a bit underwhelmed by the product. First of all, the bag is extremely well built and seems durable and though and I love a whole lot about it. However, I'm disapointed that it doesn't exactly suits my needs... - I had several bags and usually use a Tamrac ZUMA 9 which I love as it is compact and can hold all my gear plus my ipad. But, when i go hikking or travel abroad, i can't carry anything else like a change of clothes, a laptop or snacks, extra gear. I was looking for a bag that could do all of this as well as be carry on compatible. After looking at specs and reviews of different bags online, there was a few that caught my eyes. LowePro Pro trekker and Mindshift Rotation Pro were a bit too big for carry on and the mindshift can't really carry long lenses. I hesitated between the Firstlight and LowePro whistler 450AW. Adavtage of the later: open in the back not the front but no dedicated hydratation pocket per se and no mesh pocket on the side to carry a water bottle... I made my choice and purchase the Firsthlight 30L (40l is too big for my needs) which also fits in most of the carry on specs of my usual go to carrier. Pros: - The bag itself is very solid and strong with great zippers (love the green buckles) which opens quickly. - Comes with many dividers in many format which makes configuration easy and versatile - Different options to carry a tripod which are well made and very secure. - Hydration pocket is big enough to holds 3l or extra gear if not in use. - Plenty of space in the main compartment to hold a lot of gear - Adjustable torso lenght and confortable straps and waistbelt makes it easier to carry on long journey. Also feels confortable against your bag (not too stiff like other bags of this kind) Cons: - 2 front pocket not expandable so really hard to put stuff when your main compartment is full. Would be hard to put the 15 laptop in the bigger front pocket when bag is full. - Very limited place for personal gear and no place to put lunch\snacks for long journey hike. This is marketed as an outdoor bag...really rare to go for a full day journey with only 1-2 power bar... - Top pocket is too small and basically useless unless using it for keys... - Detachable rain cover takes place that could be use for other gear. - Main\bigger dividers are a bit too high (higher than main compartment) which push against the front pocket and reduce the space of the later, especially if you have ear in the inner 3 mesh pocket. All and all the bad is very well made, solid and will last me for years but if you want to carry other things than your camera gear, the space is limited which isn't different than most camera bag but sas it is market as an outdoor photography bag, coming from a company dedicated for outdoor photography, you would think that the pockets were bigger\more expandable like the front pocket of the 180Pro for example... One last thing...Coming from Canada, I have to say ordering and shipping through B&H were a breeze. My bag was ordered on a saturday and it was in my hands on the tuesday of that week and customes charges were handled easily...
