Carry your photography equipment and 15" laptop off the beaten path to a foreign location or while on a hiking trip close to home in the rugged charcoal FirstLight 20L DSLR & Laptop Backpack from MindShift. Designed with the needs of outdoor photographers in mind, using multiple travel means, this high capacity backpack is built for extended days on the trail.

Keep your tablet or 15" laptop in the separate front compartment, and your phone and wallet in the easily accessible top zippered pocket or the two front stuff pockets. Store your spare camera batteries, filters, and other small accessories in the interior mesh pockets and your water bottle in the designated pocket with drains and a built-in cinch cord for added security, . You can secure your tripod or monopod in the mounting system on the front or side of the backpack. Side compression straps with locking buckles provide additional lash points.

The FirstLight 20L is made of multiple types of durable nylon coated in water-repellant polyurethane, with a reinforced bottom panel for extra protection against harsh environmental elements. Designed to fit various statures and heights, the contoured harness system can be adjusted at 11 different points. Two grab handles make it easy to hoist into an overhead bin or in and out of vehicles en route to your destination. The shoulder straps and waist belt distribute weight evenly, while the shaped aluminum torso stay provides additional support, allowing you to stay out on the trail longer.

    MindShift Gear 520350 Reviews

FirstLight 20L DSLR & Laptop Backpack (Charcoal) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bag, too small for lens with collar I wanted to love this bag, it is made really well, and the adjustable suspension system is very comfortable, BUT...the bag is just not deep enough for a DSLR with a collared lens/mounting plate--unless you are willing to unscrew the collar and turn it every time you put the camera with lens attached into the bag. In my world, that would get old very quickly. The goal was to use it to carry a Canon 7Dii, 400mm f5.6, 70-200mm f2.8, flash, which would fit nicely, if the lens collars were removed. I really wish they had made the bag 1 deeper!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well made, but lacking in features for trail use. The good: The bag is well made, and the interior is great for a mirrorless system, especially if you are using one of the newer long lens. I got it primarily because it can accommodate my Fuji X-E2 with the XF 100-400 lens attached and with the hood in the shooting position. The bag is also very comfortable to wear, and the way the waist harness wraps around of the front of the bag for travel is also a nice touch. The bad: You would think that a bag that is designed for a long day on the trail could accommodate a standard 32 oz. water bottle in the side pockets, but the pockets are too small for anything other than a small water bottle. This is especially annoying, as the FirstLight 20L does not have a hydration pocket. The external gear pockets are so snug that they can hold a windbreaker and nothing else. If you want to carry a lunch, it will have to go inside the bag in place of camera gear.
