Useful for shooting full length portraits or groups, the 65" X-Large Deep White Umbrella from Impact is a unique light shaping tool with a deeper than normal profile. The exaggerated depth makes for a narrower beam than a standard umbrella while still retaining some of an umbrella's wrap around qualities; but with a defined edge. Additional control can be achieved by fine-tuning the "focus" of the beam by varying the flash head's position along the umbrella's shaft. The 16-rib design, coupled with the reflective white interior, results in a soft, even beam at all head positions.

  • Sturdy bag is included for storage and transport
  • Compatible with most off-camera flashes, flash heads, and monolights

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge and great quality This Umbrella is simple huge! It is very well made and solid. I dont know whats the difference between the discontinued version and this improved one, but again, it is solid and very well built. I tested it for full size people shots today and the light is great. So soft and wrapping. It works even great for single person portraits and I used it to replace the default setup of two soft-boxes. I am sure it will also work great for group shots which I will test soon. Even after using it just a couple of hours, I will not miss it anymore. But again, it is huge and you need some space to set it up and maybe works not allays for all scenarios.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and Diverse Light Modifier I like modifiers that serve many purposes and offer a lot of flexibility. I've always incorporated umbrellas in my lighting and believe they have a place, but we all know that standard umbrellas spray light everywhere, and that's not always desirable. The deep (and somewhat parabolic), 16 sided umbrella is different in that there is much greater control over spill and directionality. You get a bit more punch, while still maintaining a nice soft, diffused light source, as well as a beautifully round catch light. Build and materials seem very good. There's quite a bit of tension in the umbrella mechanism, so be aware of that when you release the tension to close it. When I'm shooting on location, I'd much rather set up an umbrella than an octa, and I'm finding this deep umbrella to be very useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice accesory Really good budget light modifier. I am sorry to throw it in that category, but build quality isn't 100. This is great for owner-operators (like me) and you can take care of your gear. For heavy (rental house) kind of use, this will not last too long. That said, its fabric is good, Soft white side creates a nice diffused light, the spokes on the umbrella are sturdy enough and best of all, it takes seconds (really 2 seconds) to set up. Downside, no front diffusion option or grid so far. So, light floods the whole area. Either way, its goof

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Soft Light I'm a huge fan of these deep white umbrellas. The light is soft and even and in the studio I can use it as my large window light source. Add some diffusion or a curtain in front and it's gorgeous. Make sure you tighten down all hardware when using this umbrella. You'll find that filling the umbrella requires being close to the end of the shaft and that places a lot of weight and stress on the strobe or swivel mount. Whether direct or heavily feathered, the light remains beautifully soft and well controlled with a round catch light. No hot spots or star effects like so many silver umbrellas produce. The umbrella and mechanism are well made and I love the redesign of the latch/unlatch system. No recoil or dangerous amounts of tension being released. Well done!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big as a searchlight, soft as a cloud. I was doing a shoot over 3 weekends involving many groups ranging from 1 to 9 people. I was using a 52 octobox, as my main light. It worked very well but it was a pain adjusting lighting every single time, there had to be a simple solution. Tried this out with some manikins first and it worked really well, used it on the final day of the shoot and cycled eack group through in less than 2 minutes including posing and picking a shot from the tethered PC. Very soft, very large, and a stop and a half brighter than a softbox. I use a passport color checker for color profile and grey cards if I need grey scale so if there was any color shift I never saw it. Shaft does flex a little but doesn't bounce up and down, once it is on your light it doesn't move and it is big so be careful opening it. Put it on a boom and adjusted so it was less than an inch from the ceiling. Also put it behind me for larger groups, bet I can do lots with this a softbox wont. Tradeoff is this blasts light all over and normally I use a softbox with a grid to get the lighting 'just so. Used a 400 W/S studio light with no reflector at all and it worked great, kept the front of the light inside the edge of the umbrella to limit spill and already had my backdrop 10' back so light spill there was not a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light modifier I like deep umbrellas. I use the 51" for large spaces, 41" for smaller spaces, and 33" for 8' ceilings. I don't like the hassle of setting up softboxes and don't have the time to do that either. These are deep umbrellas which are not the same as parabolic umbrellas. The deep umbrellas have a hotspot unlike a parabolic umbrella which has even the light from edge to edge. However, even lighting is not good in all circumstances. I like that fact that there are hotspots and then the light feathers out. I use that feathered light, leaving the hotspot to skim over the subject/s. The difference between a deep umbrella and regular umbrellas is that there is more control over the width of the feathering. The hotspot with the deep umbrella is the same but the feathering is 25% less than regular umbrellas giving you more control over the lighting than regular umbrellas. The quality of this umbrella is great. It has fiberglass rods which are much stronger and flexible than metal rods. The umbrella's white interior also does not cause color shift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portrait umbrella, great price This umbrella has a beauty dish light quality for portraits. Nice and soft, and small diameter so light falls off quickly. It's a deep umbrella, so it doesn't spill as much light at the sides as regular umbrellas. Build quality is decent for the price. Packs small, and sets up quickly. I use it for portraits on location and in the studio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very durable but surprisingly heavy! This is the type of umbrella that can stand the test of time, it's really durable. The main surprise was heavy it is though, like really heavy for a medium sized umbrella.
