ARRI SkyPanel S30-RP Tungsten LED Remote Phosphor Softlight (Blue/Silver, Edison)
Key Features
  • Manual Yoke
  • Panel Surface Area: 14 x 11.8"
  • 110° Beam Spread
  • 3,200K Remote Phosphor Panel
ARRI continues to broaden their LED line and reaffirm their commitment to accurate color rendering with the introduction of the blue/silver SkyPanel S30-RP Tungsten LED Remote Phosphor Softlight. Supported by a manual aluminum yoke, the panel's surface area measures 14 x 11.8", making it an ideal portable, on-the-go light source for mobile applications. Output is controlled via interchangeable phosphor panels to achieve a specific Kelvin temperature instead of adding phosphors to blue LEDs. The powerful native LEDs then excite the phosphor panel that's mounted like a filter in front of the fixture. This method not only uses less electronics resulting in a lower price point, but delivers a color rendition that approaches current definitions of "perfection" and is 10% brighter than its color tuneable S30-C counterpart, which has an output equivalent to a 1,000W tungsten softlight. Both versions of the light draw only 240W.

This rendition of the light ships with a 3,200K panel with an impressively high CRI of 98, but optional 2,700K, 4,300K, 5,600K and 6,500K phosphor panels with CRIs of 93, 97, 98 and 98 respectively are available, as well as a Chroma Green panel. Dimming from 0-100% can be adjusted locally with the SkyPanel's onboard controller or remotely via DMX or over a LAN. Besides inputs and outputs appropriate to these functions, The light has a USB-A port for downloading firmware upgrades from a thumb drive, PC or Mac.

The SkyPanel S30-RP can be used worldwide, thanks to its included 90-250 VAC power supply but it can also use optional 23-36 VDC batteries when mains power is unavailable. Besides the power supply, the light comes with a combo baby/junior (5/8" | 1-1/8") pin and a standard diffuser. This version of the light comes with a 9.8'-long Edison DC power cable.

Remote Phosphor Panels for Precise Color Rendering and High CRIs

These high-quality phosphors deliver outstanding color rendition and outstanding light output. The remote phosphor versions of the SkyPanel are roughly 10% brighter than the color tuneable versions and have a lower price point due to less complex electronics. Different color temperature panels are available, including 2,700K, 3,200K, 4,300K, 5,600K, 6,500K, and Chroma Green.

True Soft Light Beam Quality

Soft lights are known for their smooth quality of light and even, uniform beam field. SkyPanel's combination of a precise selection of diffusion panels, LED mixing chamber and large surface area allow for the light output to wrap around objects, eliminating sharp shadows and making for an ideal beauty light. The beam field is homogeneous in both color and intensity.

Natural Shadow Rendition

The SkyPanel produces not just impressive light quality, but excellent shadow rendering as well. The soft shadows cut cleanly without exhibiting multiple edges or color fringing.

Versatility Built In

  • While the SkyPanel was designed to be used primarily as a soft light to illuminate people, various built-in features make it extremely adaptable to other uses.
  • With the onboard battery input, SkyPanel can be run off industry-standard batteries. The S30 can be operated at full power on battery power.
  • The SkyPanel also makes an effective space light outputting a large downward-directed pool of color controllable soft light through an optional silk cylinder.

Built to Last

Made in Germany to the high standards for which all ARRI products are known, SkyPanel is constructed from resilient materials and assembled by hand with great care. The combination of an aluminum core with fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastics results in a solid fixture that can withstand heavy daily use on busy film sets. The easily-services electronics have been designed to last beyond a minimum of 25,000, up to a maximum of 50,000 hours while the LED light engine even allows for re-calibration.

Highly Controllable

The SkyPanel user interface is designed for ease of use with a wide range of controls available to the user. In addition to the on-board controls, all functions can be remotely adjusted via DMX or LAN connections.

The expensive SkyPanel S30-C is the best investment in the lighting kit you could choose!

Great set light!

Happy with this purchase probably more than any other light purchased for work. I know many like the idea of this light for rigging but I find so much use for this one on set. The 1x1 has been a great light but to me this replaces it. Not only because of its ability to be bi-color as well but hue feature as well as chimera make it more diverse than a 1x1. If using it be aware of the fan control feature. Fan can sound loud when you first turn it on but a simple adjustment can silence it.

Great light, Very heavy

Fantastic light output for the size and amazing capabilities with RGBW function. The light is very heavy and cumbersome though. It seems a little bulkier than it needs to be. The large power supply adds a lot to the size and weight.

This is the ultimate light

This is the ultimate light. A light that literally will do anything you could possibly want, need or ask of a professional light. The only concerns I had before I got my hands on this S30-C was will this be too heavy? and Is this going to be bright enough?. But I am very pleased that it isn't as heavy as I imagined. Putting the power supply on the back of the light does make it heavier but that is optional if you get the accessory that allows you to attach to a c-stand. Light output was very impressive and if I need more I will purchase the Intensifier Panel to get 50% more output. I recommend buying the barn doors since the light really goes everywhere.

Changing the way we work

These lights are powerful. Not just in brightness but in features. Being able to plug into an outlet without much concern for power, adjust to precisely any color (hue/sat) or color temp, load in animations for effects and style, our list keeps growing. We bought these as an alternative to Diva for a soft, quick to setup and adjust run and gun light and they have proven to be that and more. Since owning them they have little downtime from being on set. Sure they are a hefty investment but it all the other hassles they are saving us from it is turning out to be well worth it. We purchased 2 S30s just because we travel a lot and size was a factor. The only things worth mentioning are that They are pretty heavy and have to use an external ballast for power (unless running batteries) and the mounting bracket doesn't quickly come off which add a considerable amount to the overall size. We will probably need to remove the bracket once we need to pack them in a condensed situation but even still this is nothing to dwindle the 5 star rating.

Amazing High Quality Versitle LED Soft Source

I purchased the SkyPanel S30-C primarily because the S60-C seemed too large to travel with, as all our shoots are on location. I'm very happy with this purchase. The features are endless. I love the plethora of accessory options and already have the DOP Choice 40 degree Snapgrid, and intensifier panel, which I use some combination there of even with the standard (included) diffusion panel for each shoot. Primarily interviews indoors and outdoors thus far and have been very pleased with the results each time. If just using the light out of the box the wide angle soft source fills much of an entire room and spills light almost in a 180 degree angle, so the grid was an immediate no-brainer for me to acquire. I was able to save parts of the foam packaging from Arri and modified it (trimmed it) and now put the Skypanel inside a Pelican 1610 case. I ditched the included yoke mount and got the center yoke mount with makes traveling and placing in the Pelican case much easier because it comes on and off without tools, which is a space saver. The center yoke mount does require a 1-1/8 spigot on your stand. I hope to purchase more of these lights when budgets allow.

What batteries are you using on the Arri sky panel s30? And what volt are your batteries?
Asked by: athena l.
According to the user manual included with the ARRI SkyPanel Battery Adapter Plate, you may use an Anton/Bauer or V-mount battery that has a voltage of 14.4V, with a minimum of 100 Wh. 210 W is nominal, while 240 W is the maximum recommended for usage with the ARRI Anton Bauer Battery Plate for Skypanel S30 and S60 LED Soft Lights, B&H # ARBPABSP, or the ARRI V-Mount Battery Plate for Skypanel S30 and S60 LED Soft Lights, B&H # ARBPVMSP. Always use two batteries of the same type, age, and state of charge.
