Accompanying the enhanced refresh rate is AMD FreeSync technology which further streamlines the frame rate by giving AMD APUs and GPUs complete control of the update rate within the MG279Q Gaming Monitor. Other visual improvements found within this display include Ultra-Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free technology, GamePlus, and GameVisual technologies.

The 27" MG279Q comes equipped with an In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel, a 350 cd/m² brightness rating, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 4 ms response time. You can choose from three different skin selection modes, four color temperature modes, and 6 GameVisual modes allowing you to tweak the screen to suit the content being viewed. This monitor also comes equipped with two 2W stereo speakers for a complete multimedia experience. Whether viewing the display on the stand or on a VESA compatible wall mount you can see it from nearly any perspective as it supports 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles.

Highly Detailed Visuals
The MG279Q features a WQHD 2560 x 1440 resolution with a pixel density of 109 pixels per inch. You get to enjoy greater image detail and up to 77% more onscreen desktop space than standard Full HD (1920 x 1080) displays.
In-Plane Switching Technology
The in-plane switching technology display found in the MG279Q gives you enhanced images, 100% sRGB color gamut, a 100,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and wide 178-degree viewing angles for minimal distortion and color shift so you can share what you see onscreen with those around you.
4 ms Response Time
Exclusive ASUS Trace Free technology gives the IPS technology panels used in the MG279Q a 4 ms response time for smooth visuals without streaks or ghosting, even with today's fast-paced games.
144 Hz Refresh Rate
With a 144 Hz refresh rate, fast moving visuals pose no problem for the MG279Q, so you can reduce motion blur and gain the upper hand in first person shooters, racers, real-time strategy, and sports titles. MG279Q features AMD FreeSync technology to virtually eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates to give you seamless visuals and smooth gameplay.
GamePlus Technology
The MG279Q features the ASUS GamePlus hotkey with crosshair overlay and timer functions. Select from four different crosshairs to suit your gaming environment, and keep track of spawn and build times with the on-screen timer that can be positioned anywhere along the left edge of the display.
GameVisual Technology
ASUS GameVisual Technology gives you six pre-set display modes tailored to suit different types of scenarios. This unique feature can be easily accessed through a hotkey or the On Screen Display (OSD) settings menu.
Advanced Connectivity
The MG279Q has one mini DisplayPort 1.2 input for native WQHD output, along with two HDMI/MHL ports and dual USB 3.0 ports for convenient pass-through connectivity. A cable management design feature found on the back of the monitor allows you to organize and hide your cables to keep your gaming area tidy.
Ultra-Low Blue Light Technology
The MG279Q also comes with the ASUS Ultra-Low Blue Light filters to protect you from harmful blue light. You can easily access and select four different filter settings onscreen through the OSD menu to fulfill your different scenarios.
Flicker-Free Technology
Flicker-Free technology reduces flicker to give you a comfortable gaming experience. This minimizes instances of eyestrain and other damaging effects when you're embroiled in long, drawn-out gaming sessions.
Ergonomic Design
The MG279Q Gaming Monitor features a slim profile and super-narrow bezel making it suited for almost seamless multi-display setups. The MG279Q also has an ergonomically-designed stand with tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment so you can always find that ideal viewing position. ASUS MG279Q reviews

MG279Q 27" Widescreen LED Backlit IPS Gaming Monitor is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Monitor I really like this monitor. I use it for lite photo editing and gaming. At first I thought it might be too big, making it a chore to drag items across the entire screen, but now that I've used it I would say that 27 is perfect. I can display two images or documents side-by-side easily and gaming is really immersive. Other likes: - At first I was a little skeptical about FreeSync (I have an AMD graphics card) but after using it I don't think I could ever go back. The effect on framerate is real. - Picture quality is excellent - Navigating on screen settings menus is surprisingly easy as the monitor has a tiny joystick on the back. Only downside is if you want to put a 2nd monitor to the right of this one. The settings controls are on the right side back which would be hard to get to with another monitor in the way.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from QC is still an issue March 2016 Got one with two dead pixels, and two stuck pixels on the lower right hand corner. Also intense backlight bleed on that right side mixed with some IPS glow. But the features are true to what they say; panel hits 144hz. And Freesync works on most* games, I couldnt get borderlands to start in freesync or SWTOR. Anyway. I lost in the lottery panel but maybe you won't?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QC issues, but overall a solid performer Picture quality is above average. I transitioned to this monitor after years of using a S-IPS monitor and I actually feel like picture quality improved, particularly in vibrance. I do have some backlight bleed on the panel I received but not excessive enough for me to return it, and it has no impact on normal usage with the monitor, I pretty much only notice it on near or pure black screens. If you are on the fence, I'd say roll the dice and pick one up and just see if the bleed even bothers you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful monitor - Back-light bleed-through When I purchased this monitor, I was looking for something that I could edit photos on, grade video, and also have super smooth visuals in game. Asus seemed to answer that wish with this monitor. It has a beautiful picture, and a resolution that is pleasing with the scaling in windows as default sizes (I sit pretty close to my screen for work). Colors are very accurate, and the images that I did color work on turned out beautiful on other screens, and were accurate to my desires on apple product screens. It scales 1080p content over HDMI well. Visuals from my Playstation looked great. (60hz) The 144hz makes for a super smooth experience in windows when moving things around. It was very pleasing. (compared to 60hz monitors, I fear ever going back from 120hz) NOTE: My AMD HD 6000 series cards in crossfire could not do a refresh rate above 120hz(software limitation). This resolution does not greatly impact FPS on my machine, moving up from 1920x1200. Whereas upgrading to 4k would have needed me to replace my GPU. In fact, where before, it did not matter if I had crossfire enabled to get 60fps max settings, it was important to have it set up correctly for this monitor to achieve 100-120fps in games. Also, to get the newer games comfortably past the 60fps, I had to drop some settings down from their highest. AMD Freesync also reduces this monitor to a maximum of 90hz. The reason I had this monitor replaced, and then returned the second product was that both had bad back light bleed at the corners when the screen was very dark. The replacement was not quite as bad, but I still noticed it. For a monitor at this price point, this is unacceptable. (when you squeeze the bezel, it goes away, this is simply bad design/quality control.) This effect does not bother most pure gamers that would love this screen regardless. I was actually sad to see it go. Last note: The sound was bad, but in my opinion, the built-in speakers are not really for listening, but more for lan-parties so that you have some feedback audio for reference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monitors! No problems! No damage or defects! Absolutely awesome monitor. I have two and they look great. The stand is awesome and being able to adjust the height is a fantastic add on. Love the different settings and ways you can customize the colors. I had Dell monitors before so I thought that I would try Asus monitors to see what quality I would be getting and these didn't disappoint. Would recommend for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor for gaming I bit the bullet and bought this amazing monitor. I am from Riyadh KSA and we still don't have this model in here. Shipping to KSA is a breeze using FEDEX . Product came in without any backlight bleeding or dead pixel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 1440p 144hz monitor I love this monitor. Probably the best 1440p 144hz ips display for the money.
