The Senal MC24-EL is a battery-/phantom-powered long shotgun microphone that delivers broadcast-quality sound in the studio or on location. It maximizes the rejection of sound coming from the sides and rear of the mic and can be used as a directional microphone to capture full, rich, natural-sounding audio for speech and dialog.

Thoughtfully designed and engineered for demanding video productions, ENG, and broadcast applications, the MC24-EL delivers quality sound, and its rugged brass frame ensures it is capable of withstanding the rigors of recording in the field or on the go.

The microphone features a high-grade condenser transducer that captures detailed and accurate sound. It has a broad frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz and delivers clear sound reproduction with full lows, present mids, and crisp highs. There is a selectable high-pass filter at 180 Hz that minimizes unwanted noise and rumble.

Furthermore, the microphone runs on 48V phantom power which is available from most professional video cameras, mixing boards, or recording devices, and runs on a single AA battery (over 400 hours) for those DSLRs, computers, and other devices where phantom power is not available. The mic is suitable for mounting on a boompole, a mic stand, or a camera, and includes a foam windscreen, a mic clip, and a 5/8" (mic stand thread) to 3/8" (boompole thread) adapter.

The microphone is covered with a matte-black rubberized coating that reduces handling noise and ensures trouble-free recordings when being operated. The finish also rejects unwanted light reflections. It is built with a gold-plated XLR connector and comes in a leatherette pouch.

Broadcast Sound Quality

Senal's MC24-EL shotgun microphone is designed for video production and broadcast applications. Its length is well suited for ENG, outdoor recording, and camera mounting.

Hypercardioid Polar Pattern

A hypercardioid polar pattern provides front-facing directivity and off-axis sound rejection. It is suitable when recording speech or dialog in noisy environments such as a convention floor or sporting event.

Battery or Phantom Power

The MC24-EL runs on 48V phantom power supplied by most professional video cameras, mixing boards, or recording devices. It can also be powered by one AA battery over 400 hours, which is ideal for recording to DSLR cameras, computers, and other devices that don't offer phantom power.

Brass Construction

The durable and solid construction ensures the microphone is capable of withstanding the rigors of recording in the field or on the go.

Rubberized Coating

The rubberized coating minimizes handling noise.

Matte Finish

The matte finish doesn't reflect light when shooting in the studio.

High-Pass Filter

The selectable high-pass filter rolls off unwanted low-frequency noise and rumble at 180 Hz and minimizes room noise when recording in environments with fans, air conditioners, blowers, or overhead lights.

Gold-Plated XLR Connector

The gold-plated XLR connector resists corrosion and ensures excellent signal transfer.

Foam Windshield, Mic Clip

A foam windshield is included to minimize wind noise and to protect the microphone from dust and debris. A mic clip is included for boompole or mic stand mounting.

I Love This Mic But It Has Two Flaws

I Love This Mic But I Has Two Major Flaws The Senal MC24-EL sounds great and somehow manages to do it at a budget price. It's also very lightweight which is vitally important when you plan on booming the mic either on a mic stand or when using a boom operator. The MC24-EL also works on a both battery power and phantom power however this is where I have a couple of problems with the microphone. One of the issues I have with the Senal MC24-EL is that there is no power switch on the mic. When you put a battery in the MC24-EL it stays on until you remove the battery or that battery drains. This can be good in one way since you never have to worry about forgetting to turn on the mic and messing up a recording. The other issue I have with this mic is that there are no battery indicators on the mic so you never really no how much power is left and when you should switch batteries. This mic could be the perfect budget shotgun mic if it just had some buttons and a battery indicator. However, with those issues aside the microphone still sounds amazing. It's clean and natural and makes me sound like me. Also you get a foam wind puff, a mic stand mount and a carrying pouch to hold the mic when not in use. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

Just shy of perfect

This is a great mic for the price no doubt. Compared with my at875r which costs about the same, I’d give the better value to the Senal. Running off of its own battery is the main reason I bought this mic and it’s extremely helpful for my uses. Compared to the at875r I find the sound to be a bit duller but deeper bass. I think the trade is fair since the further you pull back a shotgun mic the more it tends to thin out. Off axis noise rejection is better is better in the senal as well as it’s ability to pick up noises from further as one would expect with it being almost twice as long. My 2 big complaints are the lack of the power button and the provided case is too small. This runs off a battery, so the only way to guarantee it’s not draining battery is unscrew the unit and pull it out. The provide carrying case for the mic is strangely not large enough. I have to shove the mic in with a lot of force to get it to fit and zip. It presses up against the edges of the bag really hard. The one last thing I wish it had was a 10db boost, but those don’t seem to be common with these mics. All in all it’s a great mic for how it’s priced - it’s a shame it seems so unpopular.

Good sound with XLR to XLR.

I find the mic great with an XLR cable and my Zoom H4N Pro. Works good at 3' away horizontal (above camera) interview and better when it is closer and boomed overhead. I've used it indoors and out. I am very disappointed that the recording sound is subpar when piped into my Canon 77D or even when using the 3.5mm jack in the Zoom. Subpar, i.e., far worse than a $40 3 MOVO mic! Trying to be nice as I am actually a bit of a Senal fanboy. Could it be a bad cable? I'm not paying more to find out. I was really hoping the battery powered mic was a live option. I would have got the MC24 shortie if I had known that the XLR to 3.5 is utterly useless. To be clear: really good sound with XLR to XLR.
