Nikon Neutral Clear Filter

Purchased a Nikon Neutral Clear Filter for a new Nikkor 85mm f 1.2 portrait lens. No need to have an UV filter as the coating of the element address this. The service and shipping from B&H was exceptional. The price is extremely competitive compared to buying directly from Nikon.

Don't Skimp on Optics

I know there is some controversy regarding whether putting a clear filter on a lens will affect the lens clarity. To me, it's a no-brainer to protect any new lens that I purchase as it's far easier to replace a scratched clear filter than to permanently mar the lens glass leading to a costly repair or worse. Nikon has had a very good reputation for quality optics for around 70 years. So, paying a bit more for the Nikon name is less important to me than to risk putting an inferior 3rd party lens on a nice lens and affecting the optics with distortion or lack of sharpness.

This is one of the finer clear filters I have used. It works great to protect the lens from dust, splashes, etc and does not seem to affect image quality. Would recommend!

Just purchased the Nikon Clear Filter for a Nikkor S lens to protect the primary element. Excellent quality and a very competitive price through B&H as opposed to buying directly from Nikon. Excellent service and rapid shipping.

I purchased this Nikon 52mm clear filter to protect my new Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens for the Leica CL. The filter does not change image quality. Great to know my lens is safer.

Yes, but you will need a 72-82mm step-up ring. This will also prevent you from using the supplied lens hood. I am assuming you are referring to the 24-70mm f/4 lens.

Does this filter out UV (Ultra Violet) light? I contemplate use with full spectrum cameras.
Asked by: Ronald
This question has already been answered by several B&H customers. This is not meant to filter rays of any wavelength, but solely to protect the front element of an expensive lens with a piece of quality glass that will not affect your images. A quality product for a quality lens. The u/v filters available in the aftermarket will tend to modify the quality of your images. BTW, I just checked the Nikon website and could not find any u/v filters available. Just NC (neutral color) or polarizing filters. Other filters are available, for example, the Skylight filter, to reduce haze. So, you should be safe using the Nikon NC filters for your purpose. Hope this helps.

What is the thread call-out (Dia x TPI) for 52 mm filter threading?
Asked by: Sean A.
Industry standard would have this to 52mm with 0.75mm pitch threads. If you have further questions, please write us. [email protected].
