    ASUS VIII Hero reviews

Maximus VIII Hero ATX Motherboard is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Mobo A part of upgrade, we put a I-7 unlocked on this mobo running twin GTX 970's, 16 Gb of ram for now, Corsair liquid cooling with a Samsung SSD , this Mobo rocks, not only does it look awesome but my son decided to stress test it ,OC to 4.6Ghz and with the built in monitoring of temp and fan speeds it never approached overload...BUY IT!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Got one that works So far so good. Chipset heat sink was scratched, ive seen some people complain about this also so im sure it is something caused in manufacturing process. I didnt notice it until i was shining a really bright light on to it, and i hardly ever see it cause it is covered by the gtx 1080. This is the reason I docked one star. This is my second asus board. Last one was m2n sli deluxe and had bad memory slots, never got it to work right so i replaced with a cheapie. This ROG board has been rock solid this far. I am still playing with oc settings but it is very easy to control and operate. Basically your choice of how hard you want to push your hardware. Offers controls right down to the fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mobo. The Bios is very easy go understand even for a first time builder like myself. My only actual complaint is that m.2 shares bandwidth with two of the sata ports but all things considering it's a great Mobo for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A finicky board to set up, but great at the end I won't lie: This board is a bit of a pain to set up. The documentation is rough, the website is awful, and the BIOS upgrades are awkward. I ran into problems using an M.2 SSD, Nvidia 1080 GPU, and an i7 CPU. It took more effort than expect to be able to find which bios to upgrade to, how to do it (it won't boot at all with the i7, so you have to use the USB BIOS Flashback feature), and frustratingly what to name the BIOS upgrade file (for anyone else in this situation, the name is M8H.CAP). After you get over the initial setup, the use is great. The BIOS lets you tweak every imaginable setting, and features a Auto-OC setting that attempts to automatically overclock your system. Another unique and very useful feature is the automatic fan setup, which configures every fan in your system for optimal cooling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Watch got the IO cover Not a bad motherboard at all for entry level. My only warning is if you are going to be running a 280 rad in your system on the top, you might have the remove the Rear IO cover. My case is the Fractal Arc Midi r2 and i had to remove the rear IO to fit my rad. Besides that only thing i'm very satisfied with my choice, never had any issues at all and the AI suite software really helps if you're going to be over clocking!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Got my roommate interested in this board! Easy install, took a moment to figure out what screws went to way. I was upgrading my old system that I built in 2008 (that is still running strong). At first it wouldn't turn on that, but that was my power supply being rude to me. My roommate loved the board and will be looking forward to using this board when he gets the money for it. My streams thank you. My youtube and video making thanks you. Shipping was quick! Surprisingly, it came to me almost at the same time the rest of my supplies came in. In fact I think it was the second item I received that weekend! Boot up is quiet, love the might changing. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is why my sound changed. It doesn't read my bass speaker anymore and gives me this echo type sound when on my speakers. When I switch to headphones, I don't hear it. Still looking into that and will change my rating if I can find the answer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful motherboard Darn fine looking mainboard. If I had to complain about anything the SATA connectors point to the edge of the board instead of straight up. This was not a problem using the Corsair CC-9011075-WW Carbide Series 100R Mid-Tower Case but might be when using other cases.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My 1st PC build in at least 10 years Nice motherboard, everything went together easily. The BIOS based tuning was confusing relative to the Asus AI tuning program, not sure which one to use, but it eventually settled into a 20% overclock and is running stable.
