The nickel-covered Antiquity Humbucker Set from Seymour Duncan are calibrated neck and bridge pickups made in the same way as the original '50s PAF humbuckers, and then aged by hand to create an authentic vintage look and sound. Built in Duncan's Custom Shop, Antiquity pickups are both cosmetically and magnetically aged to simulate the wear and tear that a pickup goes through after decades of playing. In addition, the mold used for the butyrate bobbins was created by the same factory that built the mold for the original Gibson PAF.
The Antiquity humbuckers provide a smooth, but articulate tone that strikes a perfect balance of warm, full low end, and sweet treble. The alnico 2 bar magnet helps to smooth the high-end response, while the vintage output coils bring out the pickup's rich harmonic content. Chords will have a full, open sound, and single notes will have a soft, yet articulate feel with a singing quality, while the un-potted nickel-silver cover gives the tone an almost piano-like percussive feel. The bridge pickup is wound slightly hotter than the neck pickup for better balance and added warmth.
Each Antiquity pickup is carefully hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA to the original exacting specs, the way Seth Lover intended, and on Seymour's original Leesona winding machine from the early Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI. Every bottom plate and bar magnet is signed by Seymour himself.
