Great tripod for the money

Sturdy tripod for a good price. I bought this for a small spotting scope. The head is fluid for good panning and scanning. Easily locks in place for viewing.

It has trouble holding a heavier camera

The camera is a Canon 5d Mk2 with a 24-105 lens, The tripod tilt has trouble holding a set angle. Another problem is the legs don't lock, if the tripod is dragged the legs start to fold. The Manfrotto Elements does not have these faults.

This tripod is very sturdy, fairly light, I'm not hiking with it so that's not an issue for me. The head works great for video, it's stiff enough to give good smooth pans. I plan on buying a good ball head for still photography. Over all I'm very happy with it. It arrived quickly with no damage.

The smoothness when turning the camera head up or down or sideways is great. Being able to adjust the tension is a real plus. Great buy and value

Although, I didn't have the money to invest in a better tripod, it does what I need. I hope it would not get weak during the time, cause it has only one side for the vertical tilt. pros: light weight, easy to use

Does what it's supposed to do

I was a little worried about whether it could handle my 70-200 lens but it did. Handled it like a champ. This is a good travel tripod.

Not being an expert on tripods, could this one also be used as a regular fixed tripod for taking photos?

There is nothing to stop you from taking photos while using this head, however the camera will only align in a landscape position. To turn the camera in to portrait you will need an L-Bracket such as the Manfrotto Q2 L Bracket. https://bhpho.to/3kOx64f

question

How does one keep it from unscrewing when panning left? I can't figure this out. Frustrating.
Asked by: Anonymous
If you look on the underside of the top plate that the head is screwed into, you will see a single set screw. Using a small flat head screwdriver, tighten that screw.
