Peak Design L-2 overview

  • 1Description

The L-2 Leash Camera Strap from Peak Design is a quick-connect system that mounts to any piece of equipment that has a loop or D-ring. Use it as a neck or sling strap for your DSLR, video, mirrorless or point-and-shoot camera. It also works with binoculars, water bottles, and compasses. The strap is designed to smoothly glide across your shoulder and raise your gear to eye level.

This system includes two pieces-an anchor and strap. The anchor attaches to your gear via a cow hitch-two half-hitches looped in opposite directions. Once the anchor is tied to your equipment, it locks to a slot on the strap. The two pieces can be separated with a one-handed push of a button. You can also use more than one anchor on a single piece of equipment by attaching them to different locations on the gear. One might attach to a strap lug while another might be connected to a quick-release plate or second lug. This will save you time if you prefer or need a different shooting configuration. It can also help increase the support the gear receives when attached to the strap.

The strap is made from seatbelt-style webbing and is adjustable from 19 to 60" to accommodate your shooting and comfort preferences. The anchors have been updated and are made of 3-layer Dyneema which resists abrasion and withstands 200 lb of force. The L-2 has an improved stronger anchor system which indicates when it is time to replace your anchors. The outside sheath of the anchor is black, the middle sheath is yellow and the inner sheath is red. When you start seeing yellow, it's time to replace your anchors. This set includes one strap and four anchors.

    Peak Design L-2 reviews

L-2 Leash Camera Strap is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slippery Not a fan. I've had 2 Domke Grippers for at least 10 years. One was attached to an a6000 which I gave to my daughter and forgot to remove. She won't give it back. So, gave me a reason to try something new and this was it. Really like the clips and how that works. But, it's bulky next to the camera. Do not like how slippery the strap is. It also looks like the weaving will snag and become pricked easily. When the strap if made small things get tangled up with the double strap side. Not much you can do about it as that is the design. This is the worse part of buying sight unseen. Does it fit your life style and this does not for me. Miss my Domke and I'm about to place an order. OR, maybe my millennial daughter will trade me back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most versatile strap I own. A light, flexible, super-strong strap that works with the Peak Design anchor system. This item can be used alone, everything is included. The picture doesn't show that there is a hole in the strap buckle for an extra anchor for attaching other items or a variety of configurations. This leash can actually used as a dog leash, smile. The buckle isof superior design that allows quick one-handed adjustments.Even though this strap is thin is doesn't fold in twoor curl length-wise like cheaper straps. Just a couple of uses besides a camera strap include tethering your camera to the tripod or you and using it like a rifle sling to steady your handheld shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this strap! I bought this strap to replace the one that came with my Olympus OMD EM5 Mark II mirrorless camera. I wanted a comfortable strap that could easily be taken off and put back on without having to go through figuring out which end of the strap loops into which buckle over and over (it would take me several minutes each time I needed to remove the strap and replace it with the one that comes with the camera). This system is brilliant! It is easy to remove the strap when you need to and equally easy to put it back on -- plus you can configure it to be worn as a slip, wrist hold, etc. And, the fabric is very smooth and comfortable to wear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I had gotten sick of having no interchangeability with any degree of ease with the stock strap from Canon. The functionality of the camera mounts for the strap needs some serious rethinking from Canon, but luckily the guys at PD have said don't worry Canon, we'll get em! I have used this a bit so far in the field and love the number of options available to use the strap in different functions. It's also very light and minimal, which is huge for me going ultralight. Thanks too for the sticker!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like the versatility of this design. Having been a satisfied Black Rapid user for Nikon gear, and like a cross-shoulder carry. I have found a need for something more streamlined for my Fujifilm X-T1 and X-T2. The Leash strap provides the ability to attach to the camera plate and a lug or to both lugs. The strap is less fiddly than most and slips easily when you need to bring the camera up from hip level. There is just less unnecessary bulk to the strap. You could possibly share one strap between two bodies with the quick connects. A big problem for me with Black Rapid is the big metal connectors posing a danger to the LCD monitors with two bodies in the bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like Peak Design L-2 Leash Camera Strap I have a number of Peak Design Products. Have been using their widest camera strap. Love the width. Comfortable and the quick adjusting strap length latches are just the best I have ever used. It is however big and bulky in my bag - the reason the buy the narrow strap. The narrow l-2 strap wads up into nothing in my bag. and it's silky smooth! We will see how comfortable it turns to be. With the AL-2 quick release anchor straps I can quickly change straps as the project changes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best camera strap I have ever used I hate having the strap of my camera always attached to my cameras. I keep my cameras and lenses on the shelves of a book case, and hanging straps are a disaster waiting to happen. I have used other straps that can be easily attached to / detached from the camera, but this is the best. The piece that loops around the eyelets of the camera is quite thin, so keep an eye on it for potential wear. Otherwise, no other issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than the Slide Having a Mirrorless camera you receive with the kit a very not wide strap I have the Fuji XPro-2. Original strap is very nice but almost impossible to adjust in length Tried the Slide. Very comfortable wide strap with an adjustable clip that is just great. But! the buckles and connecting plastic bits are very big and while collapsing the camera into the bag I always fear scratching my camera. The slide overcomes this issue and while not being wide it is very comfortable and with an option to adjust the length very fast and while rolling it over the camera body nothing gets scratched. I highly recommend
