The Core i7-6700K 4.0 GHz Quad-Core Processor from Intel is the sixth generation of the Core i7 product line that is now built using Skylake architecture. This processor features a base frequency of 4.0 GHz and, as with many Skylake technologies, it comes with features such as Intel Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-Threading, and vPro. With Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, the maximum clock rate this processor can achieve is 4.2 GHz. Additionally, this processor also features four cores with eight threads in a FCLGA1151 socket and has 8MB of Intel Smart Cache memory. Having four cores allows the processor to run multiple programs simultaneously without slowing down the system, while the eight threads allow applications to complete tasks sooner by working in parallel. This processor also supports up to 64GB of DDR4-2133/1866 MHz and DDR3L 1600/1333 MHz RAM, has integrated Intel HD Graphics 530, and has SSE 4.1/4.2 & AVX 2.0 Extensions, as well as AES New Instructions.

This Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0 GHz Quad-Core processor is well suited for users who are interested in general-use tasks, such as Internet browsing, checking E-mail, document creation and editing, and multimedia playback, as well as more intensive tasks that are able to benefit from overclocking. This K processor is also unlocked, meaning that it can be overclocked past its maximum turbo frequency . However, overclocking past the maximum turbo frequency is not recommended. Not only will it cause the processor to run much hotter, it will also void the limited 3-year warranty.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast, easy overclock Intel CPUs are awesome, low power usage when idle and blazingly fast at full load. I was able to overclock to 4.6Ghz with no issue and might be able to go further but haven't tried. The Z170 chipset is really nice, lots of integrated stuff. I installed this CPU in an Asus 7170 Pro Gaming motherboard, which has tons of USB 3 ports, integrated graphics and good quality integrated sound. I'm totally happy with this CPU, but I think the i5-6600K would have been a better value for me. The major difference is that the i7 has hyperthreading which can improve some workloads.

Always ships fast and precise orders, and quick access to B&H over the phone for any questions. I know this is a review of the merchandise which for these products are already market proven, however B&H adds to the ease of procurement and the best overall price making a great product even better due to the experience with B&H. Shop it out on amazon, you will be back to B&H with the excellent support and knowledge about the product as an added bonus. I have been working with B&H for years and if they carry the product I need they are my first call now.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has not failed me on First installation Package arrived as pictured, installation on a H170N-WIFI V1.0 was a breeze and everything has been running smoothly since. However, I must mention that I bought the same processor from another location, that did not work with the same specifications except the motherboard H170N-WIFI *V2.0*. Could not get past a complete installation of Windows without running into a blue screen with the description WHEA UNCORRECTABLE. Tried everything anyone has mentioned on the web for three days, and still the same results.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Runs Fast and Cool! I've been impressed with this processors performance and temperature management. Just on air cooling, it typically stays between 30-35 celsius. That being the case, I consider this to be both effective from a performance perspective and safe/sustainable from a heat perspective. I would highly recommend it! Also - kudos to B&H for getting it to me so quickly! There were supply issues when these were first released, but despite that, B&H was able to get this delivered to me BEFORE their expected delivery timeframe!

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from good processor It is a fast processor whose 8 virtual cores can handle most of my daily tasks as a software engineer. I have a lot of RAM though(64GB). Its overall temperature tends to get pretty high during compilation time (up to 49C) when 100%, but it might be because of my Cooler Master cooler sitting on top of it or even my case fan set-up.     Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best CPU i have used yet the price for this product is a steal, shipping was extremely fast as always. product came out the box doing 4.2ghz, i overclocked using gigabyte gaming 7 mobo to 4.6ghz with ease and quite stably as well. could definitely OC some more but not necessary thanks to the hyper-threading capabilities. With this CPU i can play a CPU INTENSIVE game like dayz, h1z1, 7days, rust etc. While running multiple applications in the background such as OBS which is also cpu intensive, and other twitch applications i.e bots etc. sitting on approx 20% utilization. Remarkable performance!

Other vendors were selling the CPU as part of a bundled package, with items that I wasn't interested in. B&H was the only vendor that was selling this as an individual item, had it in stock, and promptly shipped. Running Windows 10 on my new rig, and with Skylake and 32GB RAM, it is smooth, stable, and reliable!
