Transcend TS32GDP520M overview

  • 1Description

Use the DrivePro 520 Car Recorder and GPS from Transcend to provide an extra set of eyes for events happening in the car and on the road. With dual lenses, the camera provides a 130° angle of view of events happening in front of the car, and a 110° angle of view of events taking place inside the car. The rear lens features integrated IR LEDs for capturing passenger footage even during night driving with low-light settings. Equipped with a 2.4" LCD screen and GPS connection, the camera can map current and past coordinates and display maps. In the event of a collision, the camera's G-sensor will automatically trigger video recording of the event and protect the footage from being overwritten. In emergency instances without collisions, an on-device snapshot button allows the driver or front-seat passenger to manually capture images. Using the Transcend mobile application or Toolbox computer software, the driver can then use the recorded footage and images for submitting claims to insurance companies, or for filing police reports. Safely secure the camera to your car windshield using the included suction mount for optimal recording angles.

    Transcend TS32GDP520M reviews

DrivePro 520 Car Recorder and GPS (Suction Mount) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for rideshare drivers!! I drive for Uber and this is the first camera I have found that not only provides amazing clarity out the front windshield, but does an incredible job viewing the interior of the car both during the day AND at night. Being able to record the inside of the car at night is critical for any Uber driver since we have no idea how any given passenger will act at any given time. Being able to see what happens in the car makes it easier to protect myself. I had an incident with a taxi driver one week after installing this camera, and not only did it capture him swerving in front of me at a high rate of speed and then stopping, it captured my passengers reaction to the near-accident and their testimony as to what happened. Many times the front camera does not tell the whole story... this one does!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need to add lighting for nighttime recording I am an Uber driver, who wanted something to record in my vehicle after having a bad incident one night. The DrivePro 520 does a great job with daytime recording. The audio is quite clear. At night it doesn't do as well. I can see myself and anyone in the front passenger seat. I am seeking infrared lighting to the other two rows of seating, since the 4 infrared lights on the rear-facing camera are not enough to make out what is happening back there. I am quite pleased with the unit, other than the fact that I am going to need more lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality I had a similar product that I was very disappointed with, but when I bought the DrivePro 520 I was thoroughly satisfied. It Allows me to view internally and externally, with great quality night vision. Very satisfied with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this dashcam. Great dashcam for a great price. It has everything I wanted in a dashcam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality The front camera is very clear during a variety of lighting conditions, it can pick up license plates from a distance, and the picture doesn't become very messy due to vibrations or bouncing around in the car. It definitely checks all the boxes for one camera, but I bought it for the addition of the rear-facing camera for extra security in case of a tailgating accident. The rear-facing camera is only pretty good - it can't adjust as nicely to lighting conditions (overexposes things beyond the rear windshield and can't clearly make out license plates), however it does have surprisingly good night vision thanks to real IR diodes on it, and it clearly shows cars that are tailing too close behind me. The included suction mount is easy to attach and detach from the unit, making for easy storage in my glove box. I didn't use the included cigarette lighter to USB cable, instead I hooked it up to a USB port on a AC-DC converter, and it works flawlessly. This unit has a seriously competitive price and I was interested to see if the performance matched up. It comes with a free 32GB micro-SD card as well, which is just plain nice of Transcend, especially in the highly competitive market of cheap dashcams. For my purposes, I'm seriously happy with this purchase. The only flaw I can think of is that it has a short battery life for those who intend to use it as something other than a dashcam. I hope this unit stands the test of time, or, if worse comes to worse, it ends up saving me more than 10x its value in case of an accident.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No I would not buy this product again First, the bad. 32GB max storage? Are you freaking kidding me? That's barely 30 minutes! In other words, if you are on a long trip and want to save a segment of a recording, you'll have to either specifically save the segment (have fun doing that while driving) or pull over, grab a portable computer, and dump the card. The dash cam that this replaced could take cards that allowed it to record for over SIX HOURS! If you stick a card that has more than 32GB into the 520, you get NOTHING. Nada. Zip. Zilch. The collision detection system on this camera is way too sensitive. It would trigger on every bump, no matter what the setting. I had to turn it off, or the card would get filled up with saved collisions inside of an hour. On the good side, the camera works well and has good resolution. I can at least read license plates on the vehicles ahead of me, which was not always a given on the old dash cam. The rear-facing camera is a nice plus, despite the fact that it contributes to the short recording time. So, if you never drive more than 30 minutes, or stop every so often to dump the card on long trips, well, this is the dash cam for you. If, on the other hand, you'll want more than a half-hour of record, you'll want another camera. But if there's an incident, don't wait until you get home to download the card. Either that or turn the 520 off (in which case if anything else happens, you're SOL) so that whatever you want to keep doesn't get recorded over.
