Does it work with only usb ? Computer does not have 3.5 speaker jack.
It needs to be plugged into a speaker jack. There is no other outlet/plug. You need BOTH the USB and a 3.5 mm speaker cable.

Can this unit be used as an external microphone? I see this has microphone jack. So just wondering if it just pass thru or the unit itself has a built in microphone.
You would need to plug in an additional microphone . The second 3.5 works as an input for audio.

Does this work with a Mac mini. Has anyone tried it?
I have not tried it with a Mac Mini, however, it works on the same principal as normal speakers using the aux or speaker port for sound. You do need USB for power. The speaker sounds great and works very well.
