Aqua-Vu AV 715C Reviews

Some good some not so good

I have had this on the water now 3 times. I bought it for open water use to help me interpret my locator better. It has helped but not as well as I expected. Screen glare is a big problem and the shield is of little use. The trolling fin works great, but it is difficult to remove. The release lever is poorly designed. If the screen was easily removed it would be more comfortable to use. Balancing the whole package on your lap, steering the boat, and holding the camera cable requires more hands than I have. This seems like a nice unit for ice fishing, but not so comfortable for open water movements. ( which is why I bought it ) Quality seems good except the trolling fin release. Camera image is ok. A wider field of view would be nice, but not a deal breaker. Ask me if I would recommend it to a friend after open water season is over.

A definite Must Have

Very happy with the product. Having the screen mounted on unit is very user friendly. A well designed product, and very portable. Battery life if great. Only negative is that the buttons for adjusting the screen are hard to use, they have to be pushed just right to make them click, especially with cold fingers.

The day after I bought this, I was ice fishing. My phone fell through the hole. With the camera, I was able to snag my phone with a treble hook. Also was able to see perch hit my jig. Pretty cool. The water was pretty clear.

Exactly what I was looking for

I just bought this at the end of ice fishing season and have not used it yet. But very excited in the near future. I had an issue with packaging and Aqua-Vu Took care of that immediately.

question

How is the camera guided for direction change?
Asked by: Anonymous
Slowly troll (less than 2 mph) or drift along the structure you intend to view. The camera will face in the boats direction of travel. If youre facing and moving forward, so will the camera; it will show you the underwater terrain in front of you. The stabilizer fin always keeps the camera tracking straight, so long as youre moving. Depending on the clarity of the water our general rule is you can see twice as far as with your eyes.
