Cooler Master MCY-005P-KWN00 Overview

  • 1Description

The MasterCase Pro 5 Mid-Tower Case from CoolerMaster is a modular case that supports ATX, Miro-ATX, and Mini-ITX motherboards and enables users to adjust and customize their own hardware layout. It features two 5.25" drive bays and seven expansion slots. Additional hard drives can be installed via modular hard drive cages, which can also be adjusted or removed to accommodate long graphics cards. There are multiple 120 or 140mm fan mounting locations, and dust filters are located at the front, top, and bottom of the case. The MasterCase 5 is flexible enough to support all kinds of configurations and even has room for liquid cooling setups.

Customize with External Modularity
Easily customize your case by adding a top cover and water bracket for a new look along with liquid cooling radiator support, freeing up space inside the case. And if you want to show off your system, a window side panel is also available. These options are included in the MasterCase Pro 5 version or available separately. Additional parts are sold separately.
Adjust Internal Layout Clip-and-Click Panel
FreeForm lets you vertically adjust or entirely remove the optical disk drive and HDD via sliding locks. Just click-in the cages, and adjust the height to suit your needs. Position them at the top to allow room for up to three extra-long graphics cards, or retain only the bottom positioned cages to add a front-mounted radiator for even more cooling options.
Slip-and-Clip Pockets
This case incorporates two easy-to-install slip-and-clip solid-state drive pockets with four mounting positions— two behind the motherboard tray, and two on top of the power supply partition. Showcase them on the partition panel or hide them behind the motherboard tray for a cleaner look.
Additional Ventilation
FreeForm enables you to install three front-mounted 140mm fans and a 280mm radiator for additional ventilation due to the adjustable bottom-mounted hard disk drives. There is also support for up to six 140mm fans through the case.

    Cooler Master MCY-005P-KWN00 Reviews

MasterCase Pro 5 Mid-Tower Case is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from More space than you will ever need! Coming from an ancient mid-tower with limited space, this was like going from a studio apt to a luxurious home. There so much space inside this case that it breathes so well, my equipment is nice and cool with its 3 built in fans. Its nice that there is separate space for up to 4 SSD drive as well as room for 5.25 and 3.5 drives etc. The rubberized ports to allow proper cable management is a plus and my case looks neater than its every been. The pro has the nice feature of a lexan side panel for those like to look at their internal workings. I have zero issues to report on this case. Works for me and will last practically forever since it can accommodate any configuration you can throw at it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome case I love this case, I never have done a review in my life (maybe just one or two), but have bought hundreds of tech items. This case is modular, you can take stuff that you don't need (such as a drive cage or two) out of put other stuff in (ability to change ssd storage from front to back). The case is a mid tower but I had no problem putting a standard ATX case in it with liquid cooling. Your components will not feel cramped. The bottom of the case is lifted a few inches which to me only increases air flow and aesthetically nice. The side of the case for wires is great, wire management is a breeze and plenty of space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect, but a good high quality case. Overall the case is great, and relatively easy to work with. Looks good, and the included fans are quite. I just with the top and front filters were magnetic, and removable, without having to remove the entire from panel. I am also curious as to how the mesh design will be when it comes to cleaning the dust out. Also, be carefully, there are 2 hex-topped screws included in the screw pouch, and they look the same at first glance, but one is for securing the motherboard, and the other is for the power supply. Don't mix these up or you will damage your standoffs/motherboard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but not that good. I bought this based on a video review that really made it seem like you could do everything with this case. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I was looking at a push pull radiator for CPU cooling and due to the design of the case it will not physically work. It is a great case, but if I desired to do that I'd have to physically modify the case. If your looking for a push or pull method I'd recommend it. The cable management is the best feature of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect, no-nonsense Overall, I really love this case. The ventilation is nice and the included fans are good enough for the job. I was originally going to order my own fans to replace the included ones, but included ones are acceptably quiet and move enough air. There are also two spots on top of the case that act as handles, which makes it much easier to move when I need to put in or take out parts. My biggest complaint is that the cord for one of the included fans was not long enough to reach any of my motherboard's headers, but I fixed this by simply using a merger cable to put both front fans on one header. Another complaint I have is that the two SSD bays that are directly above where the power supply goes are placed in a position that makes it difficult to hook up wires to them. I imagine people with micro-ATX boards would have an easier time fitting the wires in, but I have an ATX board, and the cables that I use for HD audio and USB 3.0 make it hard to use those SSD bays. Not impossible, just difficult. Aside from those two minor annoyances, the rest of the case is superb. The optical drive bays and HDD bays are very easy to work with, and the viewing window gives you the option of either blocking out or allowing the view of the power supply and associated cables. The cable management is more than sufficient for my needs as well. If I were to sum up the case, I'd simply says it's no-nonsense. It's everything I need without any useless bells and whistles - not to mention the fact that it just looks cool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plenty of room for growth and cooling It arrived in a very rugged shipping box and was not damaged even with a hole in the side from UPS. It did have one issue I fixed. One of the side cover screws was put in cross threaded. I was able to clean it up with my tap set. The options for drive location are plenty and being modular is great. I was able to get a Corsair Hydro H100i V2 in the top with plenty of room. Worth the price and the build was fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Real pleasure of DIY Pros, Nearly all parts are removable. Removable top and front panel, removable 2.5 ssd and 3.5 HDD bays, and removable dust filters. Good quality and highly selected material. Pre-installed cable management stuff. Cons, As a mid-tower case, it is a little bit heavier than I thought and its competitors. Only one color is available. I will recommend it for other DIYers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Mid-Tower Air Flow Case Fantastic looking air flow case. A nice matt finish with some stylish mesh grills and a very nice slightly tinted window with a removable PSU cover. Love the hidden handles at the top for easily moving the case around when needed. Can completely remove all cages for maximum airflow. Lots of cable routing holes. This case can also be upgraded down the road.
