The downloadable Albion IV Uist from Spitfire Audio is a collection of tools for the creation of atonal and aleatoric instrumental film music. The 25,750 samples included in this volume display an ensemble of over 60 string and wind musicians playing intricately orchestrated "progressive" techniques.
The library includes over 800 interlocking textures, clusters, and phrases featuring high and low sections of strings, woodwinds, and brass respectively. Some of the sounds are tonal, in the sense that they are playable at different pitches over a given range, while others are atonal, meaning that their pitch is fixed. Crossfading dynamic layers and full integration with other Albion volumes, as well as with the BML and Definitive ranges, enables you to blend these sounds seamlessly into your orchestrations. Beyond the orchestral sections, the Uist is topped off with the Stephenson's Steam Band IV collection of close to 200 synth-processed orchestral sounds powered by the eDNA script engine.
Each sample is available in a choice of close-, tree-, ambient-, and outrigger-mic mixes which can be combined as needed to customize the sound. The Albion IV Uist has been designed to be scalable to variously powered systems—settings such as the number of round robins and active mics can be adapted to the hardware you are working on at any particular moment. The Albion IV Uist runs on the Kontakt 5 player, the full version of which is included with the library.
The overview panel gives you a quick and easy way to access, view, and load the different articulations, mic mixes, and essential controller functions which you can then reassign to suit your workflow.
General Controls Panel
This is a deeper but still simple UI panel that allows you to tweak the general settings. You can choose, for example, how many round robins you want and how you want them to behave, or how memory is organized alongside pitch options.
