Available for download, Scraped Percussion from Spitfire Audio is a performance-oriented virtual instrument based on 3385 samples of a variety of percussion instruments and random objects played using experimental techniques such as bowing, brushing, rubbing, and scraping. Each sound is available within a specific range of pitches and is playable from your keyboard. Sampled by percussionist Paul Clarvis at the Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall in London, the volume covers performances of cymbals, glasses, ice bells, music stands, polystyrene cups, saw blades, tam-tams, and bicycle wheels, each played with its own set of techniques. The overall volume is controllable via the expression slider. Scraped Percussion tops off with a collection of synth-morphed pads and ambiences created using the organic samples as raw material. These pads and ambiences are performable from your keyboard and can be mangled further via the included Mercury Synth engine.
Eight mic perspectives and three mic mixes can be combined and blended for effectful shifts in focus and depth, and are also fully output assignable for surround and 5.1 use. Recorded in situ within the Definitive Range, Scraped Percussion is designed to blend seamlessly with other Spitfire libraries, including Albion, the British Modular Library range, and part of the Signature range. The full sonic agreement between libraries enables you to combine orchestral sections and instruments, and have them sound as if they were being played together in the same room.
Note: Requires full version of KONTAKT 5
