Available for download, the Deep Sampled Electrophone from Spitfire Audio is a virtual musical instrument based on 1166 samples of the electrophone, which is a toy instrument played by tapping a stylus against metal contacts. The virtual instrument draws on the samples as you play on your keyboard, recreating your playing in electrophone sound. The samples capture three distinct electrophone sound styles, recorded from six different microphone positions which can be mixed and blended for effectful shifts in focus and depth. Unlike traditional electrophones, on which only one note can be played at a time, this virtual version adds a new dimension to the instrument by enabling polyphonic playing.
For further sound customization there are tap & dynamics sliders which control the loudness of the stylus tap and of the actual instrument sound. There is also a vibrato slider which enables modelling the vibrato naturally present in electrophone sound, and an expression slider which controls the overall volume. The library is sampled with several slightly varying versions of each sound, known as round robins. Each time you hit a certain key a random round robin plays back, giving your virtual performance a lifelike feel. Recorded dry, the samples allow for easy manipulation and in-depth control of ambient effects.
Note: Requires full version of KONTAKT 5
The overview panel gives you a quick and easy way to access, view, and load the different articulations, mic mixes, and essential controller functions which you can then re-assign to suit your workflow.
General Controls Panel
This is a deeper but still simple UI panel that allows you to tweak the general settings. You can choose, for example, how many round robins you want and how you want them to behave, or how memory is organized alongside pitch options.
This device allows you to build up complex rhythmical patterns that react to your playing to create original effects.
