Dedicated to the Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner, this version of SilverFast SE Plus 8.5 from LaserSoft Imaging is a versatile scanning application designed to gain a high level of control and quality from your scanner. Besides benefitting your scanner, edition 8.5 of SE Plus features Print Calibration support to fine-tune the output of an inkjet printer using the included Fujifilm IT8 reflective target for ensuring a color-consistent process from capture to print. Rounding out the range of advanced features, Auto Frame Detection intelligently and automatically recognizes scanned originals and constrains the dimensions and alignment of final scans to minimize cropping and rotating during editing, and Preview Concept gives you three distinct ways to apply adjustments to imagery prior to making the final scan.
SilverFast SE Plus 8.5 can be used in an efficient and intuitive manner with the WorkflowPilot wizard dialog, which guides you through the necessary steps in the correct order to achieve scans of the highest quality. Multi-Tasking support lets you continue working on new scans and image adjustments while a final scan is being performed in the background, and Multi-Exposure helps to achieve an extended dynamic range by using multiple scanning passes to garner greater highlight and shadow detail. Other core features include the advanced Infrared Dust and Scratch Removal tool, for cleaner scans; NegaFix, which helps to maintain truer colors and tones based on specific film types; and Image Auto Adjust, which lets you quickly apply brightness, contrast, and color adjustments.

Preview Concept
- Normal Preview: An entire preview scan is displayed in the overview window and tool settings and effects are shown by approximation. Images can be displayed at 100%, too, by clicking the magnifying glass for closer inspection.
- 1:1 Preview: This setting offers a high-resolution preview of the image in order to gain a more exacting estimation of how certain functions, such as iSRD, will affect the final image. In the Navigator dialog, a yellow frame indicates the fine image detail and previews all selected adjustments; if moved, the adjustments must be re-performed.
- HQ Preview: This high-resolution preview mode offers a clear view of the entire image. Using the Navigator dialog, a yellow frame can display any adjustments or edits made to a portion of the image; and this yellow frame can be moved around the image to preview adjustments in numerous places prior to making the final scan.

Other Features
- Selective Color Correction - For enhancing the look of one specific color without affecting other colors or hues in the image, this tool lets you pick a certain color in the preview window, select how the color should be adjusted, and then fine-tune results with a hue adjustment slider.
- AACO - Auto Adaptive Contrast Optimization (AACO) is designed to lighten shadow values without affecting mid-tones or highlights. This effect can be automatically applied and Strength and Shadow Width sliders can be used to fine-tune results.
- Image to Web - Rather than saving a scan and then posting the result to social media sites, this function lets you directly upload a scan to Flickr, Facebook, or Dropbox.
- Unsharp Masking - This controllable sharpening tool increases contrast along edges and lines of an image, without affecting overall detail, in order to enhance the perceivable sharpness of an image. This function can be applied automatically or manually, and Unsharp Masking PLUS lets you preview the effect prior to making a final scan.
- Descreening - Allowing you to remove the screen dots from a scan of a printed image, this tool encompasses two automated modes as well as a manual screen input function.
- GANE - Ideal for producing a cleaner image, Grain and Noise Elimination is an adjustable slider to reduce the appearance of distracting grain or noise.
- SC2G - Selective Color to Grey (SC2G) offers controlled conversion from full-color to grayscale with the ability to adjust how specific color channels translate to monochromatic tones.
- Densitometer - This software tool lets you control gray and color values in an image based on the unmodified tones from a preview scan. This function can also display the tone and luminance values for each pixel as well as black and white points.
- 16-Bit Histogram - A basic editing tool available in RGB mode, the histogram allows you to adjust color casts, exposure, and contrast across the three color channels.
- Global Color Correction - This intuitive tool lets you control the overall color balance of an image, making it well-suited to removing single hue color casts, such as those on faded photographs.
- ACR - Adaptive Color Restoration helps to strengthen faded colors and neutralize over-saturated ones for a natural color balance. This function can be applied automatically with a single click or manually adjusted with a slider.
- PrinTao - This dedicated print dialog lets you arrange and print imagery directly from the scanner or after HDR processing. Images can be sorted by size, orientation, and position; can be adjusted with flipping, rotating, moving, and cropping tools; and a colored slider can be used to indicate adequate resolution for the specified printing size. Color adjustment is also possible, as well as applying specific ICC profiles for printing. Additionally, a variety of text tools are also available for adding captions, text boxes, or copyright notices.
- Batch Scanning - Helping to save time when scanning multiple images or frames in a session, batch scanning lets you pre-define all of the separate images in a preview scan, using either the Auto Frame Detection function or manual selections, and then scan all of the frames consecutively without having to apply new adjustments for each scan.
- Kodachrome Support - A dedicated setting lets you scan Kodachrome transparencies with specific attention given to maintaining the rich, unique color quality of the original. Making use of the Multi Exposure function, as well as iSRD, scans of Kodachromes can better approximate the vast dynamic range of the film with true color accuracy.
