Light & Motion Stella 2000 Overview

The Stella 2000 LED Light from Light & Motion is a daylight-balanced LED source that packs enough features to cause many users to call it their ideal on-camera source. For location work, the Stella 2000 is hard to beat. With a very small form factor and weight of only 1.1 lb, it's barely noticeable in your kit case. What is noticeable is the clean, accurate color rendering output from the unit's flicker-free COB LED that gives it a rating of 90 CRI and 90 TLCI.

The Stella 2000 has a wide 120 degree beam that can be narrowed with the included 50° focus optic or softened with the optional diffuser. The fan-less design is dead quiet for sound-sensitive locations and is dimmable either continuously or in steps. And, the housing is durably built. Not only can it survive repeated dropping on concrete from a height of 3.3', but it's also waterproof to depths of 328 feet!

The unit is powered by a built-in battery that charges in 1.0 hr. to 80% and 1.75 hr. to full charge, giving you a run time of 50 to 415 minutes depending on the power selected. You can also run the light from a D-Tap external battery source for longer shoots. Additionally, you can use mains power anywhere in the world thanks to the inclusion of a multi-voltage AC power supply. The Stella 2000 also comes with an external AC power supply, a 4-way barndoor set, and a 1/4"-20 adapter.

The Stella 2000 spLED is a single point source which has less multiple shadows like the original Stella 2000 LED.

    question

How sturdy is the shoe mount? I want to attach to Fuji X-Pro2 and wondered if it's a secure fit
    Asked by: Hugo
You can securely mount 2000 to the camera's cold shoe. But pivoting light from side to side is problematic and the light will hit your forehead when using the viewfinder. The 2000, although light weight, is proportionately heavy for that camera. A 1000 is a proportionately better match in size/weight. We have the Stella 1000, 2000 & a Sony A6500 (in a camera cage). In a more exposed environments, I'd recommend using the light with a sturdy ball mount and camera cage or holding/securing light separate of camera. Hope that helps.

If using this light on a Sony camera with a Multi-Interface Shoe, the cold shoe mount for this light may not fit all the way onto the shoe.

    question

What is the distance that 2000 lumens is measured from ? Example, what will be the lumens measured 10ft from the light source ?
    Asked by: eric
While the manufacturer is not able to provide a lumens rating at 10 feet from the subject, they mentioned that this light would give a lux rating of 804 at a distance of 9.8 feet.

    question

Your overview indicates included 25 degree optical Fresnel lens but it's not indicated for the in the box list. Can you verify ?
    Asked by: eric
The 25 degree Fresnel is not included, just the 50 degree focus optic and the barn doors (which hold the focus optic). It also includes the colts shoe mount connector, charger and charger adapter, light itself. I think the light modifier kit is something one should get with the light to get the fresnel and bulb light for room overhead lighting along with the 3x3 filter (and light box) holder).
