One UHR element helps to achieve even illumination and sharpness for consistent performance throughout the aperture and zoom ranges.
A pair of aspherical elements reduces spherical aberration and distortion for increased sharpness and clarity.
Multi-coated elements help to suppress lens flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy.
MEGA O.I.S. compensates for camera shake in order to realize sharper photos and videos when shooting handheld.
Stepping motor provides smooth, near-silent autofocus that is compatible with Lumix cameras' high-speed contrast-detection systems.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques.

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-150mm f/4-5.6 Reviews
For 150 bucks, this thing is a steal

So I have a lumix s5 for my main rig, and also have a g85 as a backup cam for higher risk shoots or just when I need to have a smaller and more mobile setup.
(Btw panasonic if you're reading this, PLEASE make a G85II with phase detect autofocus!)
Wanting to do some wildlife shooting but I don't have a telephoto for my s5 yet. I'm eyeballing the 70-300mm macro but can't really afford another $1000 lens at the moment. I came across this one and realized that 45-150 is 90-300 full frame equivalent and if I'm shooting 4K video, I can obtain 600mm equivalent if I set the project to 1080p and crop down without losing any quality pixel for pixel (as far as I know). I saw it was on sale for $150 and I said why not, lets go for it. Worst case, I could always return it.
At the price point my expectations were fairly low, and I was actually surprised with what I got. Image quality is solid on this lens, great contrast, sharpness is good at this price. Autofocus is good. Stabilization is fair, but I'm using both IBIS and OIS so a bit biased. If you're shooting video at 150mm, you'll want a tripod, gimbal or a solid place to rest the camera.
I'm still trying to figure out why it's so cheap, given the results (although I haven't done any extensive scientific testing in controlled environments), there's likely plenty of info online to explain it. All in all, for 150 bucks on sale, there's really no reason not to have one in your kit, unless you already have something better.
Solid little lens and I'd recommend it.
A great telephoto option!

I used to hate these variable aperture 75-300mm equivalents but I've come to love this one. It's lightweight and sharp from the minium aperture throughout. Often when you need this range, you're either pointing at a lit stage or outside in the sun so the slow aperture is somewhat less of an issue. The extra 100mm vs a 70-200 is quite significant. I think it offers just enough for some amateur birding/wildlife. Great lens and I continue to use it in professional work myself.
