Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 Overview

A truly versatile all-in-one zoom, the Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens from Panasonic is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and provides a 28-280mm equivalent focal length range. POWER O.I.S. Multi-coatings have also been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity in harsh lighting conditions.

Complementing the imaging capabilities, this lens also features a stepping motor for fast and quiet autofocus performance that benefits both stills and movie shooting. An internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length during operation and also quickens focusing speeds.

Designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, this lens provides a 28-280mm equivalent focal length range to cover wide-angle to telephoto perspectives.
Three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements combine to minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations, as well as distortion, throughout the zoom range for increased clarity and sharpness.
Multi-coated elements help to suppress lens flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy.
POWER O.I.S. compensates for camera shake in order to realize sharper photos and videos when shooting handheld.
Stepping motor provides smooth and near-silent autofocus that pairs with an inner focusing design for quick performance. The AF system is also compatible with Lumix cameras' high-speed contrast-detection systems for focusing speeds up to 240 fps.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques.

question

Does it zoom in/out smoothly with no catches during video?
Asked by: Kevin L.
I have the GH4 & use this lens for video & while I love the convenience & range I get with this - it is not smooth - it does catch or click thru the zoom. It does seem to be getting smoother as I use it (or maybe I am getting better with it). I was in news & preferred to shoot my own video. Our lenses (when new) would have run $15-30,000.00, and shot close in/distance - shot off shoulder video fabulously - that said: for the price this is a great lens that takes a little practice. This was the best value lens that I found which had the greatest distance & most features & I shoot & go. I would like a power zoom, but I wouldn't trade this lens & am so glad I got it.

Hi All I have questions about the H-FS14140AK model. What does the AK symbol mean here? I did not find its information on panasonic homepage. Please just help me, please!

I think this is just the way they categorize the product. I could be wrong but I really don't think it means anything.

question

Does this lens have fixed or variable aperture?
Asked by: Amanda
Apologies to Robert B, I accidentally clicked inaccurate but Robert is correct. This lens has a variable aperture controlled by the camera body (unlike in a film camera, where the aperture setting is located on the lens itself). Hope this helps.

question

when does the $200 instant savings end?
Asked by: Goldstein
There is no set time for how long the $200 instant savings will last. Often the reason is for how long supplies last.

question

Does this lens varifocal or parfocal. Meaning, does it keep focus while zooming in and out in video mode? Does it behaved like the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH (varifocal) or more like the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ASPH (Parfocal)? Thanks!
Asked by: Sylvain H.
I'm sorry, but I have never used it in video mode. What I will tell you is that the lens I bought makes a strange grinding noise when I.O.S. (anti-shake feature) is on. While it shouldn't be bothersome with still photos, I imagine the microphone will pick up the noise while recording videos.

question

How long will the GH5 or the GH5S record. I have a GH4, and the clips are only 6 to 7 minutes. I want to purchase a GH5 or 5S, but when doing multicam on the Avid, it is a pain?
Asked by: Tim H.
The GH5 and GH5S do not have a record limit. You can record as long as the memory card and power option will allow.
