Durable and Small

At just 3" long and 1.5 ounces light, the VideoMicro is an unobtrusive companion for your camera. Its ceramic coating mitigates glare and its durable aluminum body aids in RF rejection.

Shotgun Mic with Directional Sound Pickup

Whereas most built-in camera microphones pick up sound from all directions, this microphone utilizes a cardioid polar pattern to focus on sound in front of it while attenuating sound entering from the rear. Its active electronics and directional condenser element deliver more detailed audio than the mics typically found in cameras and portable recorders.

Easy Hookup to Camera

A detachable coiled 3.5mm cable is supplied for fast hookup to your camera. The cable is wired in a dual-mono configuration, ensuring that the mic signal is sent identically to both input channels of your camera or portable recorder.

Runs on Plug-In Power

No batteries are required to operate the VideoMicro. Just connect the microphone to your camera or recorder, enable plug-in power on the device, and forget about swapping or charging batteries.

Detachable Shockmount Inhibits Vibrations

Understanding that the rubber bands used in many shockmounts can snap and stretch, Rode chose to utilize a rugged Rycote Lyre suspension-style shockmount. This simplifies setup of the mic and inhibits the transfer of vibrations from the camera. Plus, the bottom of the shockmount features a camera shoe mount with a 3/8" thread, ensuring easy attachment to your camera or a boompole such as Rode's Micro Boompole (available separately).

Furry Windshield Minimizes Wind Noise

The VideoMicro includes a furry windshield to minimize unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners.

Connectivity Options

Expand the microphone's device compatibility with Rode accessories such as the SC4, SC7, and VXLR+ (all available separately). With either the SC4 or SC7, you can connect the VideoMicro directly to a smartphone or tablet equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS jack. The VXLR+ adapter is the ideal solution when you want to record the VideoMicro to a camcorder or mixer that has XLR inputs.

Rode VideoMicro Reviews

Worked great for the airshow I was shooting

It's amazing how much difference a dedicated mic versus the built-in mic makes. I tested this with audio on videos in my house before using it at an airshow to have better directional audio.

I throw this mic on whatever camera I'm shooting on to get reference sound. The quality is so good that I use this audio over my recorder audio at times.

I throw this mic on my Fujifilm XT-4 and it works really nicely. It get's great audio if I'm shooting in a crowded place where I don't have room for external mics. But, it's not the best at recording quiet audio. You can crank up the volume in post without background hissing noise being bad. Overall, it's a great mic to throw on your camera and get good general use audio.

Perfect for endless zoom meetings

Apparently, Zoom meetings are here to stay. Sigh.... Well, if we've gotta Zoom, we can at least sound good while doing it. I mounted my Video Mic on top of my Logitech webcam which is on my monitor about 2' from me. The sound is great. I never have to worry about setting it up or taking it down... it's always there and helps me sound as good as my voice is ever going to sound. I highly recommend.

I've been using this microphone for over six months and it's given me no issues. For such a compact microphone, it offers excellent performance, and the value at its price point is huge. The mic, cable, and windscreen all feel well-built. As long as you're gentle with the shock mount, it will give you no problems. Very happy!

Great size and works well

I bought this as I needed something that was other than the RodeGo products. Quite pleased with the sound quality it has and how far away it picks up voices from speakers that are speaking to a group. Just remember to make sure the jack is plugged in all the way.

Does it have dual function for making Filmora videos on a laptop as well as with a camera?

I have only used the Ride VideoMicro as a shotgun camera On my Canon EOS M6. I use the Rode NT-USB for Zoom and other applications with my MacBook Pro because laptop software usually require a USB microphone input. Rode NT-USB has excellent sound quality and I highly recommend it.

It has a standard headphone type cord. I don’t own a GoPro 9. There are adapters fir earlier model GoPros that convert lighting jacks to the headphone round port/jack.

question

How do you mount this to a smartphone? Do I need a special clamp? (I have a Samsung Galaxy S5)
Asked by: Anonymous
You need something to accept a shoe mount. You could go expensive with a Beast Grip, or DIY with a simple smart phone tripod adapter and attach a cold shoe to it.
