Ikigai KIT102 overview

  • 1Description

With a zippered, removable, padded camera cell for your camera equipment, the black Ikigai Medium Rival Backpack offers added strength from within for protecting your gear from weather and impact. Inside the cell are padded, touch-fastening dividers for organizing a DSLR and up to seven lenses and related accessories. There's also an interior laptop sleeve and a zippered rear compartment on the backpack for an iPad/tablet. For doing more, the cell may be removed to convert the Rival Backpack into an overnight or day pack. By folding the lid underneath and in the back of the cell, one may then access gear through the pack's front zipper. A versatile pack, it has a zippered pocket on the top and left side as well as a stretch, mesh pocket on the right side for your water bottle. The bright green, interior lining makes it easier to locate items in low light. For style, the pack features matching zipper pulls and accents.

Carry your Rival Backpack with the padded top handle, or wear with the shoulder harness and waist belt. For comfort, the shoulder harness is padded, adjustable, ergonomically shaped, and has a chest connector for added stability. Both the chest connector and waist belt have quick-release buckles. The waist belt is also padded to make those long journeys not seem quite so long. Photographers will appreciate the sculpted back panels, which are made of padded mesh for cushioning, have channels for improved airflow, and a special lumbar panel. Made of triple-density, honeycomb rip stop nylon, your Rival Backpack is both strong and durable. In the event of inclement weather, simply deploy the included rain cover. When shooting on wet ground, the rain cover may be used as a ground cloth to help protect your knees and gear.

Removable camera cell which is essentially a zippered case with a handle. Photographers use this case for storing and organizing gear. With the cell removed the pack transitions to a day pack.
Removable rain cover that also function as a ground cloth.
The pack features top access for storing frequently used items. To enlarge the main compartment, simply remove the upper divider.
Color-coded, ergonomic zipper pullers allow for easy operation. This is especially helpful when wearing gloves.
Sculpted back panel with molded, vented contact points to improve airflow and help wick-away moisture. The panel is complemented by a curved harness system with an anatomic shape.
Stretch mesh side pockets for storing a water bottle and other accessories.
Rolling luggage trolley handle strap.

    Ikigai KIT102 reviews

Medium Rival Backpack with Camera Cell (Black) is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Secure padding but small for professionals I ordered this Photographers Backpack online after being assured by B&H that it would accommodate two DSLRs, additional lens and two electronic flashes (I supplied B&H an equipment list). It looked like it would be tight but a larger pack would not fit as airline carry-on. Actually, neither would this one unless slightly squeezed down externally. Most of my above main gear did fit, but only after taking the lens off one camera body. Little room for batteries and accessories. Side webbing slip-in pockets, but not 'closable.' Good straps with waist belt. Comfortable. Good adjustable equipment padding protection. Good value and convenient for medium small jobs not needing more gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Kit I purchased one of these bags and love it. It is very protective, functional, versatile. The inner camera cell is a great way to store and organize your gear. The bag has a quality harness and back paneling for more comfort.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not real happy with it Was looking for a second bag because all my stuff will not fit into one bag. This bag was the deal of the day and it looked pretty nice. After getting it I realized that it opens from the back where the straps are. This makes no sense to me. Why would it not open from the front???? It is well built, but I doubt I'll be using this bag. you have to push the straps out of the way and then open it from the back to get to your equipment. Just a pain in the butt. I guess I'll keep looking for a good, quality second bag for my growing camera equipment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor customer service I am an avid hiker and outdoorsman and like to take a variety of lenses and other equipment along. I also work in a field that allows me to take my equipment along, but doesn't allow for a lot of space. I ordered the bag with those things in mind and an upcoming trip. The pack was missing the ergonomic waist belt and on a long hike can really help balance the weight in the pack. I called B&H and was told I should contact the manufacturer. Several phone calls and emails later I have had no response in 10 days. The bag may be a 5 star quality product, but I have not been able to use it due to the lack of customer service by Ikigai. I felt it fair to give the bag 3 stars as it looks well made, but can't give it more as I have never used it and I am on the verge of returning it. If things change, I will update my rating!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the wedding photographer I am a wedding photographer and this bag is perfect to carry all the gear to the shoot and keep it organized. The storage cells are ideal for organizing the equipment I need to make my weddings a success.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not happy with zippers I haven't used it enough to know how I like all the features. Right now, the layout seems good and the bright green interior makes it easy to see things. BUT, the zippers are an issue. The inside layers get in the way every time you want to zip it up. Have to hold them in while you zip. Makes access and closing up way more difficult than it should be.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buyers remorse This Medium sized bag is large and laid out poorly. The camera cell takes up the entire cavity of the backpack, leaving little room for anything else. I really wish I hadn't purchased it. If anyone wants a good deal, I'll sell it to you 1/2 price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again at the sale price. I have used the Ikigai backpack for a couple of months including on an all day hike. I found it generally comfortable, if not a bit heavy with the camera cell fully loaded. I removed the cell and reconfigured the inserts which allowed me to easily carry my Tamron 150-600mm lens with enough room for all the other equipment I needed. I do not think the cell is needed unless: 1. You needed the extra padding. (Which I would come in handy on a rugged hike) or 2. You wanted an easy way to also have a hand held bag. I found the overall quality to be good but the outside zippers do tend to get stuck when zipping up in a hurry. On the down side, since it opens from the back, it must be removed and laid flat to access all your equipment including a laptop or Ipad. (Good security in crowded conditions such as on a subway. It does have some access from the top compartment, but that is often filled with other items and it must be configured properly. Takes some practice to load for your own best access. To conclude, it is a very good pack and better than my sling bag for long or rugged hikes but I prefer my sling bag for easier treks and better/faster access to my camera and equipment.
