Not happy!

Had other lenscoat products and very satisfied. This particular one was very disappointing. Directions were poor and try as I might did not seem like it was manufactured for the 300 PF lens. After struggling for 2 hours , gave up and put it back in its wrapper. Feel like I wasted $90.

A decent purchase

Lenscoat lens covers are essential accessories for super telephoto lenses. They help keep dust and moisture away from the lens, and provide some protection against scratches and scuffs. I purchased the Digital Camo version for my Nikon 300mm PF, and, as a whole, the lens cover is a decent buy. It works as advertised, and it looks great on the lens. However, my main complaints are the lack of precision cuts on the different sections of the cover, and the woeful installation instructions provided in the box. The sections seem to be cut manually and the edges are uneven, detracting from the overall experience. As a whole, I would recommend this product with a few reservations.

Work great

Works great. Insulates the lens from bumps, heat and cold and helps hide it from the birds. My third lens coat lens cover they are a bit expensive for what they are. 5th star missing because nothings perfect and the price and the plastic windows are a bit tough to get lined up and a bit difficult to operate the controls through however they probably help keep dust out of one of the most susceptible spots.

Great Addition!

I have been using LensCoat covers on my lenses for a few years now and have not looked back. Lenses are expensive, and this helps provide protection for my investment. The camo pattern also helps a lot around wildlife.

Over Lenscoat

Bought set of covers for Nikon AF-S 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Lens (Black) to discover that the lens hood cover is too short to protect all of the lens hood. Also, when trying to attached the matching Lenscoat Hoodie, it will not fit on as the lens hood makes it to tight a fit which result in the hoodie peeling back the hood cover and making it loose/stretching it at the widest end. I have spoken to Lensocat about this problem before but they are not interested in hearing complaints. Please also see my comments of the Hoodie.

Seems to work as intended

I am not all that rough with my gear but seems like a good idea to protect an expensive lens from dings.  I do hear it the lenscoat does not last all that long so happy to circle back after a year of use to update the review

Does the job

The LensCoat was as expected, easy to put on and has a very good feel. Because of the expense of the Nikon AF-S 300 f/4E, I felt it was worth protecting from scratches so this is the first LensCoat that I have purchased. Living in NE, the insulation makes it much more comfortable to use in the cold and I love the feel of the lens in my hand. Because Ishootmostly at high shutter speeds, I don't use the VR often but can tell it would be difficult to switch back and forth with the plastic cover. Regardless, I wouldn't cut this out because it does add some water protection around the switch and it is easy enough to lift the neoprene to make the change. It works for me and I would highly recommend this cover.

question

How does the manual focus ring work with this on, if it is one piece? How will it rotate?
Asked by: Jeff J.
The individual LensCoat pieces don't bind at the edges, so I've had no issues with using the manual focus at all. Actually the hardest thing to operate are the switches, but you have to expect that if you're going to cover and protect them.
