It helps prevent the restriction of a DAS connecting to only one device and helps lower the cost of 10GbE network environments. Attaching the TVS-871T to your Mac using a Thunderbolt 2 cable makes it accessible in the Finder, while its Thunderbolt & Ethernet dual networking capabilities help simultaneously share files across multiple devices using SMB/CIFS, NFS and AFP protocols for sharing across Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX networks. When configured in iSCSI SAN block-based mode and after an iSCSI target is created, it can be accessed with your computer through Thunderbolt IP.
