SilverStone SG09B overview

  • 1Description

Designed with a 23L capacity and constructed with a plastic front panel and a steel body, the black Sugo Series SG09 Case from SilverStone has had its storage capacity reduced via relocation to motherboard backside mounting, allowing it to accommodate two 13.3" long graphics cards. Additionally, the power supply has been moved away from the area designated for the CPU, allowing the CPU cooler's height to be increased.

The SG09 Case supports Micro-ATX, Mini-DTX, and Mini-ITX motherboards. It has one 12.7/9.5mm slim optical drive bay, two 3.5" internal drive bays, and four 2.5" internal drive bays. It is cooled using one rear 120mm fan with a rotational speed of 1200 rpm and a noise level of 22 dBA, one left-mounted 120mm fan with a rotational speed of 1200 rpm and a noise level of 22 dBA, and a top-mounted 180mm Air Penetrator, with selectable rpm speeds of 700 and 1200, and noise levels of 18 or 34 dBA. The top fan slot is backwards compatible with 140mm fans, and there are also dual left-mounted 80/92mm fan slots and one right-mounted 80mm fan slot for additional cooling.

This case is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports (backwards compatible with USB 2.0), one audio port, and one mic port, all of which are front mounted. It also has four expansion slots and operates using a standard PS2 (ATX) power supply, not included. For security purposes, it has two Kensington lock slots and is protected by a limited 1-year warranty.

Please note that if you intend to use all the hard drive slots, you must remove all unused power supply cables, as unused cables may cause problems with drive installation. Also, SSDs are recommended in place of hard drives. Additionally, while the maximum length for PSUs is 7.1" / 180.0mm, SilverStone recommends not using PSUs longer than 6.3" / 160.0mm.

    SilverStone SG09B reviews

Sugo Series SG09 Case is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly excellent case for small form factors Pros: - Excellent fit for small form factor systems - Surprisingly good airflow and fan slot options - Fits airline carry-on size requirements - High-quality construction Cons: - PSU mounted within the chassis, so can't easily reach the power switch - No handle - Front panel buttons don't have the same high-quality feel as the rest of the case This case is a genuine 5-star product. I was hesitant to buy it after reading a handful of critical reviews (among the many positive ones) but I have no regrets after setting up my system. It has many options for airflow (it's clearly intended to house an air-cooled system based on the fan setup, but I switched things around to put my H50 in it and the temps are perfect) and cable management is great for such a small case, although I highly recommend a modular PSU - you're still working in a tight space. It also fits carry-on requirements for airlines, which probably doesn't matter to most, but suits my needs well and was one of the points that sold me on the case. The construction is solid and it looks nice. Aside from the very minor cons listed above, I couldn't be happier with this case.
