This network attached storage features Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and comes with two drive bays set to RAID 1 or Mirror Mode. To manage your data, Western Digital has outfitted this NAS with a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor along with 512MB of memory. There are also two USB 3.0 ports for expanding the My Cloud Mirror's storage capacity and backing up the data to optional storage drives.

    WD WDBWVZ0060JWT-NESN reviews

    My Cloud Mirror (Gen 2) 6TB 2-Bay NAS Server (2 x 3TB) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product for Home Use This is one of the best Home NAS I've used so far. It provides the necessary features for a HOME NAS and easy to use. I've had a previous NAS from WD as well, but the HDD died on me. Although I could just replace the HDD, I wanted something that provided me a backup as well for my precious files. The Mirror option did the job and it all happens real-time in the background. So at all times, I have an updated backup of the files that appeared in my NAS and it is held at a different HDD so that in case one fails, I still have the other one. It also can keep a few versions. I also love the USB ports for which I could transfer big files in and out directly within the NAS, versus running it through the network, this speeds things up a lot and works in the background. User interface is ok, simple without being too restrictive for a tech savvy user. I also use this for streaming my videos within my network and it works really well, keeping all my media in just one place and accessible from different rooms. Setup was a breeze, got it up within a few minutes. The only thing that is irritating is that in some cases, it doesn't appear in my windows explorer so I can't use it as a drive. The first few months, it worked well. But after some time, the storage does not appear. I could only see it under Network and it only opens up the admin web page rather than open up a folder to list the files. I couldn't get it to work until for whatever reason, it intermittently appeared again one time and I saved in under Quick Access. I tried to look for WD support forums and apparently, other people also experience this but there is no clear solution on how to fix it. So it does have some quirks that if you are simple user, you may not be able to find workarounds.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with Time Machine I purchased this product to handle my Time Machine backups as well as some extra storage for photos, video and other files. The setup process was time consuming, but I will overlook that at this point because I'm beyond frustrated that it doesn't work with Time Machine (despite its claims that it does). Yes, Time Machine will backup to My Cloud and work seamlessly for about 2 weeks. Then it will tell you your file can no longer be validated and you need to start a new backup file. This is a large issue with the product as there are numerous threads about it on the internet with each company (Apple and WD) saying the other is at fault. I don't really care who is at fault, but it's annoying that consumers have to suffer because of inefficiencies and false claims. Since I no longer have the box, I am now stuck with an item that doesn't work as advertised. Had I known about this issue sooner, I would have purchased a traditional desktop backup system. I now have to invest more money for a system that I can trust to work properly. P.S. - from everything I have read this is an issue with all NAS storage devices and Time Machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent This NAS unit fulfills all my needs in terms of storage. I was looking for a solution to store my photos, archives of files that I don't use regularly but need to have, and Apple Time Machine backups. The WD My Cloud Mirror is very easy to configure, allows me to have different users with different access permissions to items in the storage, talks AFP natively (Apple's network file access protocol), and offers very nice status reports, including the ability of sending me alert emails (ex.: in the case of a power outage or increased tempaerature). I don't keep it on 24/7, though. Usually I turn it on starting Saturday and turn it off on Sunday night. This gives me plenty of time for my computers to perform their backups (weekly backups are enough for my needs) and saves energy during the week. The only thing I wish it had, but is definitely not a deal breaker for me, was the ability of using it as an external USB disk. There is no way of connecting this unit directly to a USB port on your computer, so the only way to access it is through the network. Don't be mislead by the two USB ports on the back those are for connecting additional disks, not to give access to the internal drives.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I just finished setting it up. Had some issues following the WD Easy Set-up and had to find the Latest drivers on-line but once I uploaded it I was good to go! Web Browser was the possible issue. Recommend using IE instead of FireFox. Seems my Computer found the device before the WD easy set-up was able. Android phone app works fine after scanning the QR code. Found all my files on my computer and are accessable from my phone. So far so COOL!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set up. Replaces a 2tb hard drive attached to my AirPort Extreme via USB which I was using for Time Machine backups. The My Cloud Mirror is pre configured for Time Machine backups. You can set a maximum Time Machine back up size so the backups don't fill the entire drive. I have it set up for RAID 1, which means the 6tb of storage actually provides 3tb storage but both drives contain the same data so if one drive fails, your data is still safe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Back Up on the Back Up to your own Cloud A++++ I used this Personal Cloud for my Family pictures knowing that if anything was to happen it is backed up twice. I also store all of my Music and Movies. SO then if I'm every somewhere else like out of the State I can always log into My Cloud at home to access the files I need. It's very easy to set up as well. A+++++++++
